Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

We were told our positions eliminated.

How Molina lay off so many employees and now almost a month later, they hiring? What was the point of the layoffs if they promoting and hiring? Is there anything we can do about that?

This is true and it's not illegal. Many positions that were "eliminated" continue to be posted. In an attempt to stream line costs and make the organization appear profitable, or more desirable for an acquisition, labor keeps getting cut based on formulas established by consultants. Time marches on.....management can't possibly make things work without the staff that was let go and productivity suffers...management makes pleas to leadership to get staff. Positions are approved for far less than they were paying the experienced people they laid off. Now you see YOUR position posted. If you want it, apply for it. You might get an offer but it won't be the same salary. If you've been looking for a job long enough, you'll be forced to take what you can get. This is how labor gets screwed. You WILL keep seeing this happen. You will continue to be mystified by the decisions that are made as they seem inhumane. Working for Molina, you may have felt you were treated like a human. That you were part of a family owned company. Keep in mind, that company grew far beyond the size of a family operated company. It can't love you. it's not human. This isn't a novel concept...letting people go and then hiring someone cheaper (usually younger is cheaper and more tech savvy). This is reality. You eat crow so you can eat. Seriously. How much more humiliating can it get than to take a job you used to do, with integrity and pride, for less money? It s---s. Meanwhile, the job market is pretty bad. For the folks who are remaining at Molina and are upset by the less hopeful posts by people who were let go....or who clearly see that the company is going to be sold....you'll get your turn. You will experience how this feels too. And you will come to this page to read and relate to the misery, rather than tell people who suggest you leave....to "get out" of this public space. This isn't good for anyone..this situation. The employees and members are suffering. Remember this when you vote. This is not a Molina problem. This is a healthcare in the US. This is capitalism in the US. For better for for worse. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. But in the end, we should care about each other. I'm sorry for everyone who lost their jobs. I'm sorry you have to feel salt in your wounds seeing YOUR job posted. I'm sorry for the members who hear about the Molina goings on and are terrified that they will end up sold to a Humana or an Blue and don't know what will happen to their meds or their care. Sad times.

That’s because Molina laid you off to hire someone with less experience and for less pay more than likely! Be glad you were let go! Don’t look back! That company is something else! So glad i was only there for a year in a half! I have over 15 years of experience, and the way Molina has run things just s---s! I’m so glad i found something else! Hope your job search is going well!!

Just let go of Molina. What is posted may not be what is going to be filled. Molina is being sold. Stop worrying about the life you had there. It's done.
