Hi everyone, quick one here and asking for some advice: Me, former Nike dude, +7 years. Happily doing other things. My wife is part of the team managing a few deals in a sports division. She has been doing market research with the BU team and meeting with all the "consultants" in key cities (yes, I know, the famous freelance "experts").
Couple of weeks ago she got flewn to New York by one of the high profile consultants, asking her she needed her for a fitting. Once in NY she got hotel (paid by the consultant), went to a sports event and then the fitting was basically the consultant offering her all these dresses and clothes "she didn't need anymore" fitted for her.
They went to a fancy dinner and all was paid by the consultant. Nothing was related (to the surprise of my wife).
After her last key city trip she got two sets of free dress shoes "to attend meetings" from the consultant shipped to the house.
Now we are both worried, as we dont really know wtf is going on, and if accepting the "gifts" would be classified as bribery. These consultants didnt use the brand budget in any way but we are honestly worried if she should report these to HR or her manager as its all very "strange".
Honest opinions please & thanks.
