It seems this board's been hijacked,

but there's an alternative:

"Dare i need to say more about a landline "layoff board"?"

I thought this was the Verizon Communications Inc layoff board. Which, despite various people's wishes, ISN"T just landline. From the official site:

"Lowell C. McAdam is chairman and chief executive officer of Verizon Communications, a leading provider of wireless, fiber-optic and global Internet networks and services"

Which lists wireless first. So perhaps others need to go to their sub-forums!

The thread after this one is asking about "setup devices".

Dare i need to say more about a landline "layoff board"?

Its as if children are just TRYING to start a civil war between landline and wireless so we all just quit caring.

Go to that other website and forget about this one.

Wireless is not the enemy. The problem is the southern right to work for less mentality. The idea of slave and master with a sick sense of righteousness is so ingrained in their psyche that it is like a form of mental illness. It as if there existed some kind of caste system where the rich are entitled to the ill gotten profits of their plantation generated by slaves and the indentured while the masses wallow in poverty. They still have not gotten over the loss they suffered during their traitorous rebellion in the 1860's. If a group God forbid stands up for itself somehow or other it does not compute in their sick minds. To them only the select deserved should earn a decent wage and experience decent working condition and retirement for a life's work. After all one should thank God for our jobs and that we are even being paid at all, that wasn't always the case. God bless the job creators and all that jazz. If we don't like our jobs we should quit. A better option is to quit and start our own business etc. Yeah right they plain and simply just wish we could all be enslaved.

"The participants understand the common enemy of the corporation. Here it is a tit for tat union vs. anti- union while the company mows through its employees. The whole presence of wireless retail has been a festering cancer. Wireline had retail since the 1970's and they knew the deal. These newbies are full of themselves."

Starts off well, the ends with an attack on a group who are not the common enemy....

Schmucks board is superior in civility. The participants understand the common enemy of the corporation. Here it is a tit for tat union vs. anti- union while the company mows through its employees. The whole presence of wireless retail has been a festering cancer. Wireline had retail since the 1970's and they knew the deal. These newbies are full of themselves.

Given how many messages thelayoff removes (foul language, personal info exposed, etc.) i am surprised they havent nuked this thread - they prohibit advertising of goods and services here - directly pointing to a competing board kind of does not make sense.

i do understnad your frustration though...

@npj, yes, the all-inclusiveness this has morphed into is what I meant by hijacked. Though the Layoff.com has separate pages for every division, most congregate here regardless. Fair enough.

I was simply saying that the other board is custom-tailored to you if want to talk landline issues exclusively.

I do disagree with your contention that it's limited to union though. I have found the great majority of the comments that appear there have been posted by management and management retirees on the landline side, as well as some comments from union associates. Also, there's less battling over there. It's more a gentlemanly (and gentle-womanly) exchange of ideas and civil debate, for the most part, where disagreements are generally civil in tone.

@OP. Any Old Bell-Head knows Joe's board started and still is primarily for Union WireLine Associates.

This is the best board for EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY ...Management, Management (non-Union) and Associates

Oh, great! Is this where I can go to discuss all of the changes happening in retail? Thanks for the heads up!
