Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Laying off before Christmas

90% of my team was laid off on Monday of this week. Those of us on vacation Monday got our notices yesterday. Merry Christmas to us.....All US based, our work moving overseas. So yes they do lay off folks before Christmas. They don’t give a sh--.

Same thing happened to my husband, OP. They could have waited a few weeks, but I guess as you said, they truly don't give a sh--. Our holidays are ruined. HP is plain evil.

"I got laid off today for HPE/DXC Technology" Which company? Two separate companies.

I got laid off today for HPE/DXC Technology and the severance package information makes it very hard to contact depts. that you would need to talk to about payroll for one. Just fneeding to speak to some about the payroll.

Can confirm WFRs happen before Christmas. Our biggest layoff to date on my team happened last year right before Christmas. We lost five people. It must really s--- to find a new job at this time of year.

And you are correct, we don't get the 401K match even though we worked the entire year.

It was before 01-Jan-2018 so you didn't work the entire year. Say bye bye to your accrued vacation and PTO as well.

When I heard about the original 401K announcement, I got a gut feeling that massive layoffs were being planned by executive management. It wasn't too hard to guess since our area director had mentioned in an all hands meeting that we needed "to discuss our aging workforce". I don't think that she came up with that on her own. It had to have come from the top.

Yes, age discrimination is against the law; however, the Republican pre-Trump Congress in recent years has passed some stealth laws to enable corporations to get around it.

A despicable act by this business. Do not equate this business with other great companies in America. This one belongs with the 3rd rate businesses of america.

I'm the original poster. Roseville was the main site and a couple more of us scattered throughout the US on our team. More than 5 and less than a dozen in total. I guess you count that as "onesy-twosies" unless you are the ones affected. And you are correct, we don't get the 401K match even though we worked the entire year.

I doubt this post is valid. I'm not a Megtonio fan. Yes, there are WFR's on December but most are onesy-twosies.

Companies do that to balance the books before year end. Looks good to shareholders.

They laid these people at this time to avoid the 401k match, raises and bonuses. They get to keep all that money now.
