Keep drinking the kool-aid and be happy with your lump sum
Humana does not owes us anything. There are many companies thAt don't gives raises at all Or lump sums. Some people will always have something to complain about. You hAve to count your blessings Now, you might not be here in 2019 but you are worried about something that you have no control about it.
You're being facetious, right? I am always thankful for any additional money, but this screws us for our raise in 2019. This is Humana looking out for themselves not the employees. Most of us are not making what others are making and this is their way of keeping us quiet. Why else would they have a certain amount they are matching? Really look at the big picture, no annual raise, no addition to 401k. Most are ok with the 1 time payment, but I would prefer annual credit and what's rightfully owed to me in every aspect of a pay increase.
You do realize that is going to be taxed at a higher rate than your pay normally is, and it artificially lowers your base income from now until you retire right? If you get a raise in 2019, it will be less than you would have gotten and you got an actual raise for 2018 instead of this not-a-bonus? Also, your retirement contribution will be less than projected, making retirement harder.
