Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Any good news?

Has anyone who was laid off in this final round found a new job yet? Internal or external?

I applied within and was had 6 interviews. Declined by all 6. I used the Right Source Management and went to a resume training class. Found it to be a little helpful. In the end, I found a position I wanted through my old network of colleagues. I accepted the position 2 wks post layoff. Prior to that, I had a few other contacts that helped me with looking for an agency to work for, but the pay was very difficult to match.

I have looked into Uber. The requirements differ from city to city. You have to have a very specific type of vehicle, number of doors, passenger ability, etc...Your car has to be a certain year too. They basically require you to have a pretty new vehicle and the insurance requirements are awful. I looked into Uber about 8 or so mths ago and don't meet the guidelines in my city. Other cities are even more strict. However, if you have a luxury vehicle like a BMW 7 series, and its black, or a massive SUV like an Escalade and it's black, you qualify for employment on the "top tier" (I think there are 3 tiers). That means your percentage is slightly more than if you had a regular sedan. You can also operate in "better" parts of your city. Crazy requirements.

anyone have ideas or hear of other work at home jobs in general? I am a nurse and have 20 years as a nurse. Since all of this has happened, I will never trust another health care organization again. I am not looking to continue working as a nurse but need WAH in general. Any ideas would be great, even if minimum wage.

Thanks for sharing op. I’m most definitely looking for a new job. I’m sick of Humana insulting my intelligence and selling me bull! I’m a PHC for anyone that care to know.

I was told that Hospice of the Pines is hiring RNs and SWs, M-F 8-5, no call, no weekends. Call them. I've been sharing this info with as many people as I can since the layoffs. Considering myself, but remaining optimistic that I'll be able to find an internal position.

I was also unaffected by the numerous Lay Offs and have been with HAH over 6 years and have been unsuccessful obtaining internal employment. I have also found a great WAH position outside the company and start this month. For all who are looking to ensure peace of mind or who were affected by lay offs, there are jobs out there! Keep trying!

I was not one of the impacted in the last rounds however was very concerned about future layoffs. I was able to find a great job and start Monday. Don't forget to check other WAH opportunities, if you haven't already. There are good jobs out there! Good luck to all:)

I have been applying daily since Nov 7th. I have applied internally and externally. I have interviewed for 4 positions internally and have been declined for all 4. I have not received 1 call for any external positions for an interview. I live in a very rural area and I have applied for everything from night shift positions at the hospital to Home Health, Hospice and Nursing Facility positions. At this point I would accept pretty much anything. I suppose it is related to the Holidays and I am hopeful that I will start to receive some calls after Christmas. I am getting nervous to say the least.

I have applied to many positions both internally and externally, now it has been officially been over the past 30 days. Nothing at all, not a peep. For there being a "nursing shortage" people sure are not hiring. I am in a unique area that is actually saturated with nurses because of those diploma schools like Keiser, and because its a popular place to live. In my area, many of the nurse positions, even leadership, require Spanish speaking fluency, which I don't have. Another poster a while back mentioned Wal-Mart. It may actually come to that. I will be glad to take all the unemployment I can get after severance ends though.

Yes, the regions have hired nurses. There are hundreds of applications for the positions as there are so many people looking.
