Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle: Stormy Weather Ahead?

Looks like LE’s luck is running out, analysts are now openly discussing how oracle has fallen behind all the other cloud companies, including IBM.

See story in Barron’s.

Get ready to put up more collateral for your borrowing LE as the stock goes crash!

Looks like SC thinks buying back billions in oracle stock to prop up the share price is a better investment than cloud DC, isn’t that interesting. She’s not here for the long term that’s for sure.

This is a very good point. There is no long term future for Oracle. Cloud opportunities are gone. Oracle will not recover.

Stocks are rising, and targeted to reach $80.

LOL. That will NEVER happen.

Oracle could easily have made the investment, especially with the cash it has parked outside the US, they just didn’t have the guts. And quite frankly, given how crappy oracle cloud apps are, maybe not investing in DCs was not that dumb. That said, the combination of LE’s and SC’s bad decisions has killed oracle. It’s dead company walking, no future, just a downhill slide into the grave.

Nobody has the money to challenge AWS except Google and Microsoft. It takes the 30 billion that Google is spending. We’re talking about massive data centers all over the world. The IBM and ORCL strategy is to put expensive hardware appliances into their own data centers (or Equinix data centers) and call it “Cloud”. The new pay as you go Cloud pricing model is killing the older tech companies, including IBM, ORCL, and Microsoft. Everything about those companies is dependent on the big check from customers who prepay in advance for hardware, software licenses, and services, along with the massive yearly check for support whether you’re successfully deployed or not. The new Cloud model means you don’t pay a lot of money until you are successfully deployed at scale. Microsoft is being torn apart by the new model too. The layoffs at these companies will continue if not accelerate.

Old news for people in the know who sold oracle stock long ago, not for shareholders in general.

Circa 2016 there was a go big plan for both the existing PaaS and SaaS infra as well as the new IaaS /BM. Mid FY 17 SC froze all spending on them and plans were vastly scaled back. That had to be a cash issue - e.g. could not risk spend up front for attempted future revenue. That was the window for going after AWS now it will never happen.

ORCL will never hit $80 in the Three Stooges’ lifetimes; probably not in mine either, and I’m no spring chicken.

People are looking at the total revenue number, not some meaningless percentages growth, and oracle is a midget compared to companies that have real cloud offerings. You can only fool people for so long with smoke and mirrors. Analysts are lowering share price targets for oracle - the kiss of death on Wall Street - signifying lack of confidence. Finally!

Stocks are rising, and targeted to reach $80. Cloud revenue is on the rise, its small compared to other players like IBM, but is rising very rapidly.
