Special Consideration Pay for HCM RNs

Were a lot of HCM RNs laid off on Nov. 7th and then told they weren't needed after Nov 22, but still being paid for 60 days? That is interesting because my coach announced to us last week that they are offering us special consideration pay from now until the end of January. The purpose is we will be reaching out to proactive members and those who need HRAs or even full sequencing before the end of the year. The catch is we have to work 44 hours before this special pay kicks in. So we work 40 hours at our rate, 4 hours for free, and then anything worked over 45 hours is "special" pay which is no where near time and a half. I remember a couple years ago this was mandatory at the holidays, but as of right now, it is just voluntary. Not sure why they would offer us extra pay when they could have just kept the other HCM RNs until January when the project is over. Maybe they factor in the 4 hours that we will be working free and it's more cost effective to pay us this way?

When I say you will not get another raise till the same month, I meant they will calculate it from that month. If you got raise in Aug, then you will get 3% of current pay times 5 months in a lump sum on a check at the end of Jan.

In response to your question on coaches and kickbacks the answer is NO, don’t be ridiculous. As for the one time payment the percentage for everyone is 3% after April, so those who are saying 2%, you are incorrect. However if you got a raise in 2017, you will not get another one until the same month, from there it will be 3%. The raises are based on when you were previously scheduled to get a raise through till April. That amount was already set from last year. Some will get 2%, some 3%, some 4%,etc till April and the it moved to 3%. All coaches have been informed of the amount already and everyone not previously impacted by RIF or early retirement will get something.

I was told in October I would get a 2 percent raise but my coach said she wishes she could give me more but 2 percent was the max. November I get laid off. Those of you that got 5 percent, that is interesting. When I worked in a leadership setting in a different organization, we got incentives for keeping staffing costs low. I wonder if it is the same at Humana. Say you have a coach that doesn't give raises or maybe gives a 1 percent raise only. I wonder if they get kickbacks or bonuses themselves for saving the company from paying us

To the poster who said their coach told them not to expect a raise since they work at home...I’ve been with Humana 4 years and have gotten 3-5% increases every year. My coach told us we’d hear at our 1:1 meetings if we were getting the bonus, and how much. I’m assuming most will be at 2-3%, but as the other poster said, I’m grateful to still be employed. Heartbroken for those that have been laid off. And expecting the other shoe to fall...

I have been on both sides of this. 15 years ago, my family lost everything. We lost our home, I had to move our kids out of the school they knew and the neighborhood where their friends were. I lost my friends. We were lucky to have a small home that we could rent My marriage did not survive the stress. I did not lose my job at Humana this time around and I am sorry for those who did. life does throw us some curve balls sometimes. But it is not fair to criticize the people who were not laid off and make them feel guilty because they have jobs or are wondering what their lump sum payments are going to be. It is not their fault that they still have jobs. None of us know what the future brings and when the tables will turn. I have been there facing poverty and I know the pain....but do not call the people who remain "callous and insensitive".... because they are not. In this time you just have to do what you need to do to take care of your family. It can be very hard but frequently you come out ahead. I think I can say I am a better nurse, a better listener, and definitely more sensitive to other's pain and life circumstances . But making others feel guilty and uncomfortable does nothing to get you there.. You are wasting emotions that you need for other thing now. We are all sorry and do not like this awkwardness. And we are all wondering when is it our turn again

Below poster you are right. It is callous & insensitive. I apologize. It is hard to not get caught up in it as I’m sure you know. But I will look a little closer at myself. I don’t have anything further to say other than I wish this hadn’t been happening at all. I am sorry.

So you are upset that you are getting any money at all? Less than 2 percent? That is more that what 1300 of us got: NOTHING! We were let go. I would gladly do your job even without a pay incentive. I would take a pay cut to continue to be employed so I can put a roof over my family's head and food on the table. When I was hired in as an HCM RN with HAH over 4 years ago, my coach told me in my interview that this is a unique position and working from home is the generous opportunity, and not to expect much if any pay increase, as we were already paid a fair wage. I never saw a raise and I NEVER ONCE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT. You are completely ungrateful! You should be ashamed of yourself. If you gladly would step aside, I would love to work in your job and will gladly change places with you. At Christmas time, this is tearing our family apart, and you complain about the company you work for WILLING TO GIVE YOU MONEY? Ungrateful doesn't even begin to describe you. BTW, the RIF'd staff from November that are still required to work through our 60 days, had to sit through that HCS renewal meeting that went into great detail about the wonderful, generous, amazing benefits that will be available to you in 2018 and 2019. Think about the 1300 of us that don't get a chance to experience that. You need to take a step back and examine your situation and be GRATEFUL that at Christmas you are not facing homelessness. Many of us have tried extensively to get a new position over the last month and can't even get a phone interview or call back. Congratulations on your raise and have a wonderful holiday season and happy new year with many good fortunes in 2018!

So if I get a raise in 2019.... will be a % of my old 2017 salary and not my 2018 salary with added "lump sum payment"? What's up with that? Or will my annual salary on my 2018 pay-slip acknowledge the 2% (or whatever) I get in January. If my annual salary on pay slip is not increased.... then this is a bonus and nothing more.

Less than 2%?!?! Wow. Can’t wait to hear that & no annual increase to improve my wages in the future, if there is one.

Right below poster, so the question is, would they try to notify of remaining layoffs prior to those pay dates? If there are layoffs in Jan, that is.

The payments in January are not a bonus. They are a lump sum payment of your 2018 raise. It is being paid all at once in advance. This is for all of Humana, not just HAH. If you are laid off or took retirement, you do not get the payment. It is erroneous to think of it as a bonus and you should read the facts about it carefully tomorrow.

Jam 19 and 26 they will be paid out. Not sure exactly when employees find out from leaders if they will get anything.

If a January layoff is impending (unsure still if HAH would be affected) would this timeline not mean they would want to complete layoff notifications by Jan 18? Or earlier, before leaders notify associates of the payout?

Has anyone heard about the possible "bonus" amounts for HCM RN's in Jan. I realize there is a range....but an approximate idea??? And when will we find out?????

Must be certain division only. I wasn't offered this. Of course, my coach has been MIA for the last 2 months and only makes a token showing of being at work at all anymore. So who knows.

Is this just for SNP?

I was on the SNP catch up, with consideration pay, and when you figure out the hours and amount you get, it’s not worth it, from one point of view

This is very relevant indeed! There is a plethora of information relating to Humana that spans the gamut on this website that is all interrelated to the lay offs some how. Whether it be from articles to mergers, BB's bonuses, town hall meetings occurring next week, benefits, and other happenings within the organization. We don't know what the meeting will be on the 6th or the 12th, but it sounds as if HCM RNs are needed through January. Perhaps there is positive news being discussed in the meetings? As other posters have asked before, due to the extreme lack of communication within the organization, we all come here to learn more about what is going on, to arm ourselves with information that will affect our employment. Perhaps you are not able to draw this conclusion yourself, or perhaps you are a nasty troll? Yes, we were offered this special pay project too. May you aren't and are upset? Maybe you are from HR and mad we are talking about this? FYI...if it was confidential and shouldn't be discussed outside the team, it was not stated to us by the coach in our meeting. I think the other poster was sharing this tidbit of information, as it "flowed" from a team meeting.

I think this information was necessary for this site because this information was from a team meeting, and thus, ended up on the layoff site??

Why was this information necessary for this site? Information flows from team meetings to Humana layoff site.
