Agreed! Almost 14 yrs as a cell tech, In April 2017 Ops mgr. says I need you to come in got a couple of things to go over with you. The Regional Director via speakerphone took my vehicle/site keys my corp. cards and ID and sent me home in a cab with severance package with no notice in less than an hr. with my position terminated. At 57 I'm crushed and don't know what to do now with no income, health insurance or Life insurance. So depressed I cant even try to get my life back together and don't know where to start soooo shocked and overwhelmed from it all I froze up in a deep dark depression. I used to make managerial decisions now I cant decide what to eat for dinner LOL They don't care its all about the numbers not their loyal workers that work 24/7 if asked or forced to keep up the Network.

Almost everyone I know between ages 28-48 if they lose their job are having a HORRIBLE time finding equivalent pay/benefits. Things are far worse now then they have been in a long time. Trump needs to do something to help small and big businesses like he promised over and over. On the bright side, there is a lot more to life than just making the most money you can in a toxic corporate environment. Nobody on their death bed wishes they spent more time trying to make money or work more...

@oyz... I’m sure there are some that aren’t doing as well financially but what they lack in pay, they make up for in peace of mind by leaving such a toxic environment. You sound like you’re speaking from experience and if so I’m sorry to hear you’re not doing as well. If that’s the case, hang in there. Keep positive and good things will happen for you. I also know plenty of people who have left due to Rif and on their own terms and they have all landed on their feet. Keep at it!

The economy is not good..Try going to Job Fairs when they are advertised in your area and see the THOUSANDS of educated, professional UNEMPLOYED people (young and Over 40) on line.

There are so many options out there, but your own experience may vary. A lot has to do with your geographic location.

If you were with the company for 14 years, I'm hoping you would have taken advantage of the opportunity to move around into different positions during your tenure. It may not look very attractive to potential employers to see "Verizon - CSR - 14 years."

A lot of folks get very comfortable in their current positions. But from a career perspective, it helps you become more well-rounded if you have experience in different channels. Plus, it also keeps one current on their interviewing skills (SO important). Lastly, during your tenure, hopefully, you either had someone develop (mentor) you or, at the very least, you self-developed (via the vast training materials available for free online.

Doing the things I just mentioned help set me on a trajectory for success with my upcoming employer. VZW actually does develop its people, at least on the wireless side...and that's really rather attractive to folks on the outside.

I freaked out and left as a Solutions Specialist when all the experience specialists and what nots we're being let go. The choice was stay at Verizon and constantly have a evil monkey on your back with an axe or move on. I make more and no more evil stupid monkey. The thought still crosses my mind if I would've just applied myself could I have done more in the company? I think the answer is no. But do stop through here from time to time hoping things are on the up and up for old co worker friends. Still getting that warning sign Spidey sense bad vibes from this place. Hopinh that things get better before they get worse.

I disagree. Every person I know that has left the company is making the same or more. If you're making less it's because you settled.
