Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Good Enough Computing...

Client CPU under pressure - a very painful and steep drop in unit volume from the 2012 peak of 343M units (anyone remembers the golden 2012) to estimated 232M units this year (Gartner estimate) - All of this caused by reckless disregard for innovation and "good enough" computing.

OMG!

The delusions of CCG was release like clock work Tick Tock new products and people would buy. Oops intel arrogance does face plant, majority of people and business don't care about their laptop performance. Just look at your work computer does it matter what is in it? Yeah the gamers who live in their mommas basement care but volume is not enough to sustain a business

Result empty shell in the desert, built and nobody came and will stay empty for a long time.

Intel arrogance in the bigger market mobile, it was x86 baby! Because of three year process lead and huge installed x86 volume they'd beat ARMy. Face plant 2, ARMy is 10x the installed base and nobody gives a darn about x86 on mobile. Pretty much missed the only market that can sustain the required RD in silicon. By making mobile intel sealed its fate in silicon and now tick Tock Tock Tock

Severs while profitable don't need the process cadence and thus Tick Tock Tock Tock. Intel process cadence has slowed and Samsung and TSMC is blowing by all riding the ARMy huge volume and mobile need.

AI, autonomous driving , IoT are not going to be able to able to generate volume nor profits to sustain TMG or grow Intel bottom line anytime soon. Let's not forget far bigger and more agile players are also playing in this space. Intel has no track record of winning when there was real competition. Even in x86 land AMD would kick Intels nuts with far smaller team and three year inferior process. Not hard to beat yet intel would still lose, what a sorry a$$ situation.

In the end Intel amazing and lucky company that was handed a golden x86 goose and rode it to process lead, margins the envy of the industry but in the end failed so utterly to catch mobile and just gave up. They should never have given up, but the delusions to think the new initiatives will fly screams of how stupid 🤡 has fooled BoD and MCM

Tipping point passed and more great ACTs 😉
