Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

IPF this year

My IPF was 1.18 and that exactly cancels out the CPF of 0.85 (0.85*1.18 = 1.003).

So I just wonder if my manager just wants to offset the bad CPF or if he really thinks I've exceeded his expectations by 18%.

What were your IPFs?

These numbers are Not Fake News. For years I had a curry lover manager, IPF of 1.0 every year. Finally got me a middle class white guy, and boom, IPF of 1.5+. Hopefully that came from the village idiots and corner shop staff that were hired by the curry lover as experts, who would regularly roll over and take it from the customer and sales, and work 120 hr weeks to produce what the rest of us would do in 30.

These numbers are not adding up. This site is useless.

I'm taking all the (grossly inflated) IPF multipliers posted on here (by Cisco HR) with a HUGE pinch of salt.

IPFs are only partially dependent on performance. Frirst and foremost they depend on available budget. Each manager gets some pool of $$$ to distribute among reports. How big this pool is, determines what ranges of IPFs folks will get.

So It's completely possible that in some teams everyone will get IPF at most 1.1, while in others everyone has more than 1.4.

It was my first review (joined 9 mos ago) and I got 1.1 (gr8). Mngr (who I don’t see very often as he’s in a different country) made it sound like I had done very well but reading the replies with everyone else’s results makes me think I did badly. Confused?

I was told that everything above 1.2 is quite high and rarely given.

Either there was an inflation of IPFs this year or this website is visited by top-performers only.

did g12+ get the full target bonus or cut back to 50% of target?

I am g12 need to know if my IPF was terrible (with no warning from higher ups) or average and just slashed to half. have to seriously study and make an planned exit if its the first case.

The highest IPF I have ever heard from a friend was 1.4 (over all my years at cisco). Some folks here have insanely high IPFs!

1.63.

G11, mid band.

A bit lower than last two years.

I heard many G6 got 1.6 or above. The "future" of the company.

the high performer is always out there (but it is not you). So its like a carrot thrown at a donkey by the boss, but no one knows where the carrot is anyway.

Pick up the phone? It's a two way street. Sure he sounds rubbish but if he doesn't know you that explains the low IPF. Set up 121s with him. Take the initiative.

To the original poster...why not just ask your manager?

We don't have 1:1s. No single one ever. I meet him at outings and at bonus letter hand-overs.

He knows my name. I know his name.

The IPF is not rated according to your performance. It is based on your country of origin which means a lot if yours is the same as your director's and vp's. Anyway, we already know that there is only one country of origin for most of the engineering directors and VPs. That is how the system works.

IPF has nothing to do with performance, Cisco doesn't even have performance reviews.

What metrics can i show to say i deserve more than 0.7? Cisco removed bell curve and metrics long ago.

Again, go back to the definition of bonus.

This thread is not about bonus, but about IPF. I assume the definition of IPF = 1 means "meets expectations" which means "doing ok".

The message I'm getting is that we need to brace ourselves and check out the definition of bonus...

"a sum of money added to a person's wages as a reward for good performance".

A Cisco there is an assumption that we just add the bonus onto our salary and its expected we get 100%.

I think those days are over. If you get an Individual Performance Factor of 1 or less you need to have a decent chat with your boss (a good one will explain why you are not getting an IPF of 1 or more).

The other message I am getting is the bonus pot is weighted towards high performers. So a high performer gets 1.5 for example and a "average" performer will get less than 1.

Again, go back to the definition of bonus. No longer assume its going to be 100%. Days of coasting are over.

@OP, your manager is smarter than mine. My IPF is 1.15 that 1.15 - 1 + 0.85 = 1. Duh! 1.15 * 0.85 = 97.75% which is less than 100%. What can I say!? The director must have had too much curry and forgot how to do math.

How did your managers justify the IPF of 0.7 when they handed over the bonus letter?

With a IPF of 0.7, you can basically just keep your midyear advance bonus :-/

.7 is a signal to get ready. You are probably fantastic. Don’t wait, act now.

Mine was .7 this time. Its always been above 1.0. I guess I should expect it because I am an old white male 20+ years at Cisco. I guess my time has come. The ironic thing is the metrics show I was more productive this year than last. I was also the most productive in my group. I guess I should have seen it coming. My manger he is always putting me down. Oh well its been a good run. It just shows it doesn't matter how good you are. It's who you are.
