So many different numbers are being floated around this board, it's hard to figure out what's really going on. Do we know how many people at Cisco got their notices this week? The numbers go from the official 310, to over 700, and even to 1,500. Do we know which one is true? And do we know if layoffs are done for now, or will we see more notices today and tomorrow?
I feel the need to add that I believe that the official number is hogwash, it can't be that low.
Big restructure in AS coming to reduce management overhead, duplication of roles, etc. Some VP expected to depart. Rumors that whilst SP leaving cleaned out some villiagism, his consultant effluent spewing replacement has made an end run.
SP BU restructure last week, but dust still selling on it - more products to have their opex cut. Apparently S.A. has been blessed by JD and YK and can do nothing wrong, as long as he just keeps hiring thier friends as DSE's and PE's.
This is not announced as an LR because this is now business as usual. Expect it to be in the 1.5% of employee range, which is standard annual cuts in most companies.
CSCO should be doing more to realign those people and firing the far too many VPs and senior directors who didn't see it coming.

AS to be hit hard next week or the week after. There are way too many folks riding the gravy train. The bucks stops. The music stopped a long time ago..
More opex reductions in service provider sales and services coming next week. And this in the midst of secret offsites at glorious locations like napa valley next week.
What groups within Collab are being decimated? Here in Europe nothing has happened yet and nobody has even mentioned layoffs. I guess its the calm before the storm?
Its going to be a significant number but probably not one we will never actually know for sure. I dont understand why Cisco is trying to keep this one covered up? In most of the previous LR's it was announced publically - or at lease some number was announced. What actually happend after that is anybodys guess with many speculating we overshot those numbers by some distance every time. Let the Huger games begin!!

The only number we can be truly confident about is the 310 in San Jose as that must be legally published. The rest we may never know as Cisco continue to make stealth layoffs in other states. RTP in particular seems to be hit badly again. Nothing has happened in Europe yet as far as I am aware but Europe is usually a month behind the US and layoffs are much tougher to enact in some EU member countries due to country legislation.
