Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

HLC don't care. If they did there would be hundreds of schools forced to look for a new accreditor. HLC has 50 permanent employees and oversees 1300+ schools. How do you do a good job at going deep with 50 people and 1300 schools? You don't. A bunch of 'volunteer' professors help out with the audits and the whole process is a joke. Well rehearsed dog and pony shows for auditors, a bit of paper shuffling and done. Unless a school commits some serious nonsense such as forcing professors to post attendance for students who are not in the classroom there is nothing they can really do. You have wimpy assignments and rubrics you can drive a truck through? Great. You allow students to rework their awful contributions a million times so they can get an A. Awww, you are so 'helpful' and 'supportive' of your 'diverse' student population. etc. It's a giant joke. Employers know.

I’m a current faculty and I want to call HLC and some specialty accreditation and tell them the whole story.

You can’t layoff program chairs and cut specific, required funding and LIE to the accrediting body.

I heard that there are some disgruntled former faculty trying to get the HLC's attention.

Spin won't help them when HLC comes for them. They have already been alerted that UOPX has done away with their requirements that got them off probation. Time to shut it down. They have fleeced enough students.

No spin will help here.

Spin it as much as you want, UOP is gone.

Campus closures or as UOP is currently calling it teach out never stay open as long as the proposed campus timeline. So staff at those locations never last more than a year. The offer to work from home makes no sense since you have to be near a campus per DOE reg. Dont be stupid ask the right questions now. Call "teach out" locations at louisville ky, Mesa AZ, st louis MO, boston MA, Oregon, Charlotte and find out how long staff survived there..about 12 months
