Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Layoffs will not help HPE compete

http://www.sfgate.com/business/article/What-HPE-s-layoffs-mean-for-the-company-s-12221723.php

However, even if the layoffs help the company reduce costs in the short term, Ponvert said he is skeptical the cuts will actually help the company compete with the likes of Amazon.com and Google — especially when it comes to attracting and retaining new talent.

Shocking to think that zero job security in not attractive to new talent. /sarcasm

HPE has been playing a shell game of sorts with all the acquisitions to slowly s--- as much equity out of the company as possible. The best play is to sell your stock and invest elsewhere.

In fact I agree with the comments that mention the only possible outcome for HPE is tombe acquired by an investment fund or another company. The problem is that even more layoffs would come with such acquisition. HPE is now between the rock and the hard place.

HPE and other legacy tech firms still rely on older workers for engineering expertise even though they're firing them in droves. Younger employees coming in lack the knowledge transfer that mentoring gives them to be successful in their jobs. Those younger employees are usually recent college grads or under 5 years of experience and take those jobs because they need it and would prefer to work else where if given the choice.

There isn't any prestige or pride in working for a volatile and declining legacy tech company. HPE will likely be sold in the next year to a private equity firm or a chinese tech company like Lenovo.

"Shocking to think that __zero job security___ is not attractive to new talent."

Many alternates could fill in the __ blank here. How about at least one other good one...

"Shocking to think that __a well-known and well-documented environment of ruthless elimination of older folks, and ruthless dog-eat-dog office-politics resulting from forced-distribution performance reviews, ___ is not attractive to new talent."

I think the last thing to happen will be whatever is left of HPE will be acquired and HPE will finally put out of its misery.
