Ching Org announced surplusing of IT staff. Some told they are definitely surpluses. Other informed that they have the option to "volinteer" to be surplused with no promise of retaining their job if they do not volinteer.

I volunteered Feb 2016 & got my full 2015 bonus, 6 months pay, accrued vacation and 1/3 of the 2016 bonus check this year. Then I earned 26 weeks of max unemployment pay. No regrets, except that I stayed too long in a backwards technology org. Keep moving. Your T experience may become increasingly irrelevant in the marketplace.

How do you get to volunteer. I would take the package and go.
It does not look like it is city specific but rather Group. We have people working Seattle and Dallas who are effected. All of them are senior level with 10+ years of service. Most of our team got hit. Tech dev
