Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

The SS Humana At Home

The writing is on the wall, people!

Humana At Home seems to be a sinking ship, and it appears none of us will be safe this time. The ship is going down, folks.

Now, the question remains: Do you stay until the end and go down with it? Or do you bail before. It sinks?

Au revoir, my fellow mateys!

Why do people come in here and make up crap. The merger falling through had zero to do with HAH! It was blocked by the government to avoid a monopoly. It has nothing to do with current operations

Get out. While you can. I am MA Execetive and the handwriting was on the wall when the merger with Atena fell through.

I wasn't fired. I was laid off. Very insulting for you to have said that, perhaps you didn't mean it, but that is not true and as the other poster said, very offensive. I hope you don't get laid off, but if you do, you will understand the difference.

Um, you do know HAH is far bigger than those positions you mention, right? So to say HAH is a sinking ship is quite an exaggeration. Had you said telephonic is dying, then you wouldn't have people saying you are spewing false facts. Saying the whole division is sinking is reckless and just not true.

Fired vs laid off, who cares! Though itq fired you would not be eligible for re-hire. I have had 3 friends who found new positions so don't even bother to that being re-assigned is a lie too. Sounds like you are very bitter. In the long run, the bitterness will affect your life.

Um....false fact person? Fired is based on YOUR performance not meeting standards, layoff is when the COMPANY doesn't meet standard.....BIG difference. Those laid off were not fired, and it's kind of offensive to even say that...none of those impacted were fired, or laid off due to what they did or didn't do....please don't spread the false fact those laid off were fired, you may call it what you want, but you called it really wrong

To the one saying I am "spewing false facts." Believe what you will. Just like they call it "lay-offs." Stop the spin and call it what it is - fired!

Who knows if any roles will have still have positions left come the end of the year, whether it be RS, CHE, PHC, HCMRN, or HCMSS.

I for one do not believe a word that comes out of the mouth of any higher-up. ... When I first started many years ago, Humana used to be a great place to work. Sadly, the culture has changed so much and the morale is so low.

I never thought I would be job-seeking again. I am so very sad.

As a former hiring manager, a layoff does not hurt your chances. At least my company did not look at it that way. In an interview I would be more leery of an applicant with just a few years at the company he was wanting to leave than an applicant forced out of his position due to a company's economic issues. I would wonder if the applicant would jump ship after a couple years and would be hesitant to invest in the employee.

I agree with last post. Suspicions will run wild now the rest of depts. got the Monitored CBTs to take. They will have to tell us something soon, I hope.

I'm HAH telephonic RN and we are "graduating" members and moving to monitored status. No new members added in a long time and they've clearly said low enrollment. In the last quarter of the year. I'd be stunned if a bunch of lay offs were not coming.

Sorry my response was meant for the poster asking if it was collapsing, not the post above it.

No, below poster. This is in response to the massage on HI that there would be more layoffs. Companywide, not HAH only, but as OP pointed out, the writing is on the wall for many in HAH, so they were asking if folks were thinking of leaving or staying.

After so many rounds, depending on our role, many of us at HAH are, as OP put, "not safe" from whatever next rounds bring, however HAH is not collapsing, esp in-home care management.

Not sure where the OP gets that HAH is a sinking ship. Far from the truth. Certain roles will become obsolete like CHE, but the rest of the department is not sinking. They have chosen to go in a different direction that focuses more on in home care than telephonic. The early retirement packages are company wide as are future layoffs. Stop spewing false facts!

Help! Am I missing something...HAH is collapsing or restructuring??

Correction - she would say it would hurt your job hunt, not specifically your resume, (because you don't need to list reason for leaving on your resume, but employers will ask and verify).

I took a job hunting course once, and the leader - an HR recruiter - used to say that a layoff can hurt a resume, and that it was always better to leave a company of one's own volition.

I'm not sure if that's always the case, but I have an interview set up for Thursday and I have been looking for several weeks now.
