Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

To all 20 year + associates

if you think about it most of the positions they eliminating are long term associates. They can hire 2-3 pt for one of us. I'm a 25 yr associate and my job is probably next. I wish they would just do it and be done with it. dragging this out is worse than being blind sided but with the holidays coming they need of us to get thru than out the window in the snow we will go. There isn't any bad press about this, there are thousands of us why are we being quiet about it.

The way it is done is absolutely brutal. In 30 seconds you are told that you are out.

Yes, most of the 20 plus year partners are held up in claims, acct, and Rec. and those 9 out of 10 are the least adaptable.

For the one that commented terrorism.... you have no clue the meaning of terrorism.

It’s not a race to get rid of long term associate it’s a race to stay ahead of the competition. Would you rather move over to the Kmart thread... oh wait they chose not to change as a company and they are ALL looking for jobs.

Get over yourself. If you think that you are non replaceable think again. Everyone in every company is. Not sure why you have to get all butt hurt it’s not personal it’s business. Think about it for one second think like you owned a business. If anyone would think like an owner they wouldn’t be worried their positions were on the list? They would be out looking for the next role in the club. Instead crying on here telling people to speak up. Yes, you’ve been with the company for 20 years then you don’t know the outside world it happens there too. You can survive in change if you choose to.

Home office has been hit hard the same way. A few here and a few there. It's been pretty constant these last couple of years.

I think it's a kind of terrorism.

Absolutely they know exactly what they're doing. audit then acct and about dec comes recv or memb. Every one will be done by feb but in small enough blocks it goes unnoticed. Same thing going on in the HO small sections since early part of year

No press because of the way they are handling it. They are taking groups and eliminating the "job code" not out and out telling people you don't have job anymore. Then there is the two month grace period to try and find another job else where in club (or 2 months of mandatory work to be eligible for severance) so in a way it's not like they have told hundreds of people you are out of work as of today. Like what happened when they dismantled demo dept. It's shady.
