Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

This week's layoffs at Windstream

There were many rumors circulating, but from what I have gathered, until now only a few people have been confirmed to have been laid off yesterday. Hopefully, today is going to continue this trend. My location is so far calm, so I am optimistic. Let us know here if situation changes.

The total "death toll" will be 735. Broadview and Earthlink will become history. I will be one of the victims 1000%.

I too was laid off....but was done in a very professional manner and frankly I understand it.....layers of management stifle urgency, process gets bogged down and its difficult to provide best in class customer service....as much as I hate to see this happen, and no one likes it, difficult decisions like this need to be made. although not part of it, I am confident WIN will succeed and the Leadership is doing the right thing! I know this is difficult and many won't agree with me, but something I feel needs to be said.

It was not a few, it was hundreds and people were laid off in groups by conference call in many instances because there simply aren't enough HR staff on horrible days like this. It went down in a cold, unprofessional, and rude process. And completely unrelated to performance or tenure. Spreadsheet management at its purest. The CEO (keeping names out per the rules) was silent. The new Enterprise President brought in a short time ago is now creating vacancies and filling top positions with cronies. Sad to see crony-ism come back and thrive now at Windstream. As a fallout, regions and teams and customer segmentation is completely overhauled. The structure could succeed or not, but the rebuild time and lack of remaining staff will impact customers for years. Didn't even help the stock price a bit, which was surely the end goal for all that cruelty.

I wish everyone the best. I hate seeing this happen to people. I have been spared, so far. I hope that as this door closes, another door opens for all those affected.

They hit us hard. I worked for BVN for more than 19 years and I was terminated yesterday. They also demoted the manager and the director. I guess Ws gave them a head up to look for jobs in order not to pay their severance package. What should I expect from a company rated 2 stars by BBB ? Next wave will be oct 1st.

Called in for "training" then got booted. This is how a Fortune 500 operates. The new normal. WS will not say how many were let go, because they aren't done yet. They probably need to look at the "C" level group to get replaced. There is no one at the helm to navigate out of the path of the iceberg.

I'm not so sure Windstream itself is toast, could limp along for years, forever as a rural provider. But the Enterprise side of operations will bleed a fast death which has already begun, don't be confused its happening. If you are on the CLEC side and not ILEC be a little proactive. If not job searching at least update a resume.

Windstream is toast.... As a former PAETEC employee we saw the writing on the wall once they acquired us. I was let go a few years ago and I'm better for it. Windstream hates their employees and their customers more........

The training ruse put on by HR and they are the same group that puts out the 'Working With Integrity' training that we have to complete each year.

LOL yea that training thing, I didn't fall for it. It was a poor ruse at best, so obvious what was happening. Very unprofessional.

Adding - Constructive layoffs often generate positive performance for company stocks - people see this as companies tightening belts. YET, Windstream spokesman says release numbers will not be revealed....

WHY? I think they are so high it would be seen as a negative. People would realize Enterprise @ Windstream is going down.

Try 250+ and for at least part of them HR used a 'training' schedule to be sure the techs were in office to be fired.

A few? HELLO, I'm one of the few. Windstream wont say how many but it appears that 2-3 hundred are gone along with me - more than a few. So many my particular group was gathered for a conf call release.
