Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

Demotions

Not sure if I got this right, but in addition to layoffs there were also demotions? Who was being demoted?

Agree totally with "2mlg". In CA Health Plan it was the same. Managers were asked to rank their employees; one list for line employees and one for Supervisors. Bottom ones were eliminated. My Manager chose to keep his / her friend with no experience but let go others who were experienced. However in the process this Manager itself got eliminated as they were not in the good books of their Manager. And the chain continued so Manager's Manager also got eliminated. Now we are reporting to someone who doesn't even know the A B C of what our department does. We have people in our department with more than 15 years of experience reporting to someone with 0 years of experience. But this Director has their job safe as they are close to the Plan President.

In NM 3 Directors eliminated, most managers eliminated but 2 managers in Care Coordination and 1 in Medicare remained, a handful of Supervisors eliminated in HCS.. Care Coordination remained in tact except for 1 Supervisor and handful of Care Coordinators eliminated.. Those that remained were the chosen of the Directors that stayed. Don't tell me it was based on productivity or that the Boston Consulting Agency had any say so.. the decisions came from Plan President and VP then the AVP was asked but since she was new she requested information from the 3 Directors that remain and it was all based on who they considered a problem instead of actually looking at performance..

Have two direcors in the department for two separate geographic areas of the state.. BOTH were kept despie BOTH being inept, moronic and hired ONLY due to so called "equal opportunity provisions".. neither of these two has ever done any work developing the people in the department and are a complete waste of resources in addition to being basically placeholders. This alone tells me that the layoff plan had far less to do with any rhyme or reason and more to do with hasty half-assed nature of this failed organization..

They eliminated redundant management positions. It does not necessarily mean they were poor performers. If they were offered a chance to step down, it was at the discretion of senior leaders which was not something taking very lightly. If you were let go without an opportunity to step down or transition to a different role, maybe you should take time for introspection and worry less about things not within your control. As all have said before, we are ALL impacted by the departures and restructuring.

Some managers were demoted to specialist and have to be a Corp employee. If they refuse then they could take the severance pkg. Wow that's an insult.

Several NM Supervisors were given a choice to step down or take the severance. Can't wait to see what the org charts will look like. Should come out next week. At least the hiring freeze is over and maybe we can get the help they said was coming before all this started.

I was one of those supervisors and my paperwork clearly stated no bumping rights were in place. Hence I was let go while another supervisor will be put into another position that she does not deserve. I was never even asked. Very disheartening as those who still do have jobs, should have been let go because there were job and performance issues. But no HR backbone that ever dealt with these things. So I truly believe that in many departments, there was nepotism on all levels. Those who were passionate and loved our jobs, were let go with no thank you. Karma comes around and when it comes back at them, it won't be pretty.

Some supervisors positions have been eliminated but they have been given the option to stay and work as non-management staff or take the RIF.
