Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

Is it just me or is there barely any media coverage of these layoffs?

I've been trying to find some official info on current Molina layoffs but there's nothing. I found two links altogether and that's it.

Did layoffs really become so common that even a sizable one like this is no longer news? Or is nearly a thousand of people not large enough to make news? What is going on?

Layoffs are never news. It's part of running (and especially selling) a business. Why would this make the news? The bigger picture for Healthcare is news worthy and it gets lots of face time. What we should be paying attention to is the financial news....which has been referencing potential mergers and acquisitions for over a year now, regarding Molina. Layoffs are one part of this type of story. The only people interested in lay offs are recruiters who may be interested in the valuable resource that former Molina employees are! :-) Hang in there everyone. Go get that next job.

Layoffs are pretty common, just look at thelayoff's main page. There's over 10 large companies doing the same thing. Besides, there's bigger things on the news right now that can easily overshadow this, such as all the natural disasters going on, terror attack in London, North Korea's missile..

I think that the big news was when the layoffs were announced back in July. This is just "executing the announced plan" so not really newsworthy from that perspective. If there was more news, like the number of layoffs significant;y increased over what was stated, or they were mishandled (legally) that would be news. Otherwise, it's really only interesting to those of us whose lives are wrapped up in it.
