This information is widely known. But you are correct that nobody cares. In the grand scheme of life we all have our own problems. What happens to a group of unnamed employees in an obscure company has no impact or relevance to most people.

You are an at-will employee. Only those Molina employees covered under a union contract will have much recourse from what the company decides to do. In Michigan the clinics were under union contract, but since they closed all of the clinics there were not any jobs to bump senior employees into. Normally, for better or worse, union contacts will dictate that the most junior employees are laid off first. I think that this isn't really a better solution than having management pick and choose, but at least there is transparency in how it is done.
