Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

ACA Exchanges

Here is my question - if we continue to exit ACA Exchanges at the current pace, we will have less and less work. I can only imagine what will happen if we were to continue marching down this path of destruction. I totally get that it's not our fault but I am just afraid that leaving ACA Exchanges does so much damage we, as a company, will not be able to recover.

I am afraid that we will downsize so much that a bigger company will roll in, buy us, and dismantle the company. Some pieces wil be kept and they will lay off everyone else.

What are your thoughts on this?

I wish Molina would pull out of Marketplace in NM. Sure it helps members who might not have coverage elsewhere. However we're not doing a good job. The plans are still not configured correctly. We had changes to vendors months ago that are still problems. Members are not satisfied.

I'm not sure the ACA was a mistake. It is still in its infancy is purposefully being left to die. A lot of people got healthcare from that program. I got a great job for a couple of years because of the ACA. It isn't all bad.

Humana is going through identical layoff waves. I wonder if it is BIG doing their thing there as well. They could easily compare both companies and let go of teams on each side that would become redundant after the merger.

We exited Utah and Wisconsin Marketplace which combined equal somewhere around 120k members but we gained huge expansion in Illinois and Mississippi and with repocurement approqching in Texas and Florida for Medicaid thos lossees are offset and Molima would gain a few hundred thousand members as well pushing membership over 6 million. If further growth is gained in NY Medicaid (likely) and in WA (likely) Molina would still be growing just not in thr crazy manner that occured with Marketplace. I do feel that MP will benefit from enhanced premiums that are not at the very bottom and a focus on the way things are done. I doubt a buyout is in thw works based on the outloom mentioned before, if anything our increased valutioma as of late make Molina less palatable for takeover and more likely that the size alone generates gains in curent markets.

I think that a buyout is exactly what the end goal is here. Shareholders get paid, the business becomes someone else's problem, mission accomplished.
