Ran into an article today that says that Nike will lay off 745 employees in Oregon by the end of this month. Now I am trying to figure out if this means more cuts are coming, or if it's simply lazy journalism and the writer did not check to see that the cuts already took place. I am truly hoping for the later.

More cuts coming. The EU office in Hilversum is over staffed and under produces. Regional offices around Europe are unnecessary. Expect 10-15% reduction in force before year end. Eventually Nike will centralize more functions back to Beaverton too. Overhead.
Nike shoes don't fit me. They are typically too narrow. They are also shaped for some peoples' feet and not others. They don't seem to care about fit. But they could. Go to a running shoes store and try on different brands and ask an informed sales person. They will tell you that Nike employees come in and buy shoes that fit...and they aren't Nikes. Why can't Nike have different widths and shoes that fit actually people, and not just pretty athlete - models.
Wait and see the poor earnings release and there will be more cuts coming. In addition to those jumping off the sinking ship. This will go down as the time in Nikes History when the culture was ultimately shifted from "owner" mentality employees to "this is a job" mentality. This will be our downfall.
