Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

FTE to Consultant

So I've heard from two sources that a big chunk of EIS will soon be consultants working for an offshore firm (Unisys, Cognizant, etc.) My question is this, how does something like this go down? I mean we're not slaves right? They can't just say 'you belong to them now.' Would it be considered a layoff with warn act and tenure being a factor? Would we have the option to take the severance option over working for the consulting firm? Does everyone have to interview and negotiate salary with the new company? Do these companies provide benefits and paid time off to their employees?

I'm looking for insight from people who have been through this, not speculation.

This rumor will not die. It was around even before we all started gathering on thelayoff.com - I have no reliable info, my gut tells me they will do it...

I doubt they can reclassify an employee without it being a layoff. This might be what they mean when they say they will have other positions available if you get laid off. They don't actually expect that many people to apply for them because the wages will be lower and benefits will be garbage. I'm likely to quit if I do maintain being a FTE and they decide to offshore my coworkers. This is corporate mismanagement at its worst. Invest in good IT people and you will save yourself millions on having to support millions of lines of incomprehensible offshore code. The future is in technology and if you try and pinch nickels up front you will pay 100 fold on the back.
