Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Severance

Hi, someone posted on another thread that to get the severance, you couldn't bring up anything related to age...can someone further explain that? The way the OP phrased it, it almost seemed that was one of the criteria for the layoffs

This is the post from the other thread that the OP of this thread was referring to, I think, and the concern about the phrasing of agreeing not to sue specifically for age related issues...

Re being threatened with HR/firing on the last day... seems shady. As another poster said, a consult with a labor attorney is free. Also the agreement they mailed for signatures means you agree not to sue, specifically for age related issues. And lastly a report to the labor board is free and investigated.

In order to get the severance, you have to sign an agreement that you will not bring any type of lawsuit or complaint against Humana. That is probably what the other poster meant. People would be stupid to not take the severance if it comes to that.

Be careful about what people are saying on here ... a lot of it is incorrect. Age has nothing to do with getting a severance. People are saying things like that because they either don't understand or are reading into things too much. Its a business decision to eliminate positions to reduce the cost of the programs and if your job is eliminated, and you don't get another job at Humana, you are eligible for severance.
