@5vaj: Pretty sure 2bep was being sarcastic. Hand over the grenade. It's going to be okay.

tell me, -2bep...where you gonna plug in your shiny new tesla to power up when a hurricane (earthquake, EMP, ) knocks out your power for the next 2 weeks?

oh yeah, that's not a realistic scenario...i'm just making up hyperbolic hypothetics here with no relation to reality...

sorry, never mind.

keep huffing unicorn farts, snowflake.

Honestly we are in a pretty good spot if you think about it like a sane person. You have a very large supply of the energy you need to make it potentially 100+ years while other technology and innovation makes renewables more practical. Be an energy company. Transform with the times and innovate in those new forms of energy supply. Or be a dogmatic stumbling block at either end of the spectrum doing no one any good including yourself. You decide.

Regardless of time line....it is on its way out...

Sane idea with coal it is still used but not preferred...

Fossil fuels will be used for a very long time, try to run a electric chain saw or boat in a disaster area (say like Houston) that has large area without power for at least 48 hours.

I really hope they take a more aggressive approach and beat France's schedule of 2040.

I love rainbows and unicorn farts. Hopefully the government creates policies to minimize fossil fuel useage and increase powering automobiles with unicorns and rainbow farts...

wait actually they are - except instead of rainbows and unicorn farts its alternative fuel sources.

Isn't the shell ceo doing a push for alternative? I think i saw an article that says he drives an electric car?

Why is a clear day in Beijing a heavy orange haze? It ain't from a bunch of clean burning natural gas skippy

Oil and coal huh? Natural gas for sure and increased efficiency in non fossil fuels and batteries are the future. Deploables are too stupid to see this coming and we will pay when China and Europe reap the rewards of these new industries.

hehe...yep, electric cars are definitely on the horizon...powered by rainbows & unicorn farts!

keep the faith, snowflake...someday the power coming out of your wall won't be oil/coal fired...until then, you can feel all superior & whatnot, snug in your ignorance and delusions...

if you really want to make a difference, hon, have your power company shut off your service, and confidently flip the bird at big oil/coal every day between today & when they go offline due to a lack of demand...

<3 u...and sorry for your obvious mental deficiency. seek government assistance...those of us who work for a living would be glad to pay for your existence (which we probably already are, anyway)

can't express how much we <3 u!

Hydrogen cars beat electric cars in every category, zero pollution, range, acceleration, maintenance. The battle isn't over, I would be cautious betting on electric.

Low fuel cost does not help electric cars either.

If you cannot see that the electric cars are coming you need to pay more attention.
