Thread regarding Chicago Bridge & Iron layoffs

United Way!!!!!

Get of a load of this Sht. United way week is upon us. They sent out an email wanting volunteers and 100% Employee participation. What a Freaking Joke. CB&I has fired so many people and the employee moral is in the toilet here in The Woodlands. They have the balls to ask employees to participate? What a load of Sht. Let the overpaid SVP's and Executives doing it. What a joke.

layoffs are NOWHERE near over!!! if the company is so focused on charity, then they should take all of the money spent on the executive MBAs from Duke and the Harvard seminars and donate THAT to charity. hahahahah - NEVER happen! but it get them to their million dollars a lot faster!

UW is pushed because there are benefits conferred on the people in cbi who run the drive and on management. Some of your donations go to the c---tail parties. It's a big social and networking thing. Nobody cares how much you give or do outside of UW because it doesn't benefit them. You are not asked about or encouraged or rewarded or sanctioned based on any other charitable activity. Management doesn't care about anything else because it doesn't benefit them. "It's about the community." b---s---. I am not the one "mixing" this. UW is. Cbi is. UW drives are universally designed like this. They reap of benefits of arm twisting. It's not a community that is brought by the employees into the offices like a school candy sales. It is institutional. At least it would be nice to know whether the layoffs are really over. I might need that money.

United Way, March of Dimes, Red Cross - all respectable charitable giving. Please do not mix this with what's going on in the woodlands.

I too feel used and abused by the old Ashernan Letter to donate $1000+ per year for the "honor of having lunch with leadership". Took part for over 5 years. But I want to remind everyone that the money is used in the community not the company.

I will be participating this year at the same charitable contribution years past and hope everyone does too. The only difference is my contribution will not be tied to this company.

Please don't let a bad experience stop you from charitable givings.

Typical HR crap. HR brings no value to the company. All HR does is cost the company money, long term and short term. What a joke Corporate America has turned out to be.
