Thread regarding Sears layoffs

LG is the new Whirlpool, ask Alexa

A quick check of https://www.amazon.com/kenmore shows that all the new Alexa-enabled Kenmore products are being manufactured by LG (model numbers that start with 795 and 796 for refrigerators, washers and dryers, and 580 for air conditioners).

Dishwashers on Amazon are "coming soon" so clearly the manufacturer is still TBD (traditionally, Whirlpool was the manufacturer of Kenmore dishwashers).

You guys are nuts. I’ve had Samsung front loader washer and dryer for 8 years without a single problem. Both cost me less than what a “speed queen” washer ALONE would cost.

The future is the low water bead washers. At least for 75% of the country where water is expensive.

Speed queen brags they’ll last 25years, my old kenmore lasted 25 until I got the Samsung’s!

@bwd I would also stay away from LG and Samsung appliances. They make fantastic phones their they are amazing, but as you said they make nice fancy appliances from the outside, but I think in the end of the day you want a product that does its job and doesnt break. I heard horror stores with those 2 brands especially as you mentioned Samsung. I heard LG gives you 10 years warranty for compressor, well the kicker here is if it breaks guess what? You have to have a certified tech to install it and I heard its around $400 to $500 bucks might as well buy a new one.

@qez I also heard speedqueens are beast appliances they are made to last of what I been hearing.

Technology is the future. If you can't adapt you get left behind. Samsung have issues how ever LG (aka the manufacturer who makes the men more elite refrigerators) do fine. The new features may seem useless now but who knows what kind of capabilities it will lead to. Don't be so simple minded.

If you want a decent washer/dryer you go with Speed Queen. Everything else is made by third world slave labor and falls apart faster than the WTC after getting hit by an airplane.

Whirlpool has been churning out crap too for a number of years. Look at Maytag. A high quality brand, they bought it, closed down everything in Maytag, IA and put fancy looking Maytag badges on cheap junk. With Haier buying GE, Fridgidaire/Electrolux is about all I'd consider anymore for something I want to last. Otherwise its Lowes/Home Depot floor models on clearance. I've found they are usually willing to deal, especially if you don't need delivery.

I'd rather have a Whirlpool. Its an established company that has been building and engineering home appliances for ages. They are generally much more reliable and easy to fix and get parts for if something does break. Most of their products are built in the US, which supports American workers.

LG/Samsung have dumped garbage onto the market. Don't be fooled by the smooth "stainless steel" and cool buttons and widgets. Beneath the surface is pure disposable garbage. Showroom to scrap pile in five years. Ask any appliance tech, they will tell you to stay away from LG and especially Samsung. Parts are expensive if you can get them and engineering for the long haul is just not there.

A WiFi enabled appliance is stupid. I could understand a WiFi enabled thermostat for heating/AC, but for a dishwasher or a refrigerator? Come on. Engineer a real appliance, not a toy.
