Or what are you noticing? Thoughts please, everyone from corporate to stores and everywhere in between, for both Sears and Kmart.

All honest and legitimate vendors will pull out. All the dirt balls the corrupt execs bring in will raid company funds until there is nothing left. Game over.. Atleast your execs will be rich.. They work hard for it.. Remember they have a MBA they earned when they were in their early 20s. These are your leaders respect them don’t question them. Get back and do 10 People’s jobs. You are forbidden to read these forums.
Kmart will continue, with emphasis on the simple store format, with any cost benefit being a facade at the store level and being ultimately useless at the corporate level. Vendor issues will persist, but as usual that will be negated by utilizing the crappiest vendors at the bottom of the barrel to fill the shelve and "leave no holes". Payroll will be cut to hell, with the exception of management, everything will lie on the back of the few associates who stay to tolerate the growing shortcomings.
Business as usual, as it's been for the last 25 or so years.
Eddie always sprinkles in a few store remodels to make it seem like shld is transforming. They are way too far and between to make a difference and are most likely to wow his investors. But he always cheap out Take for example the des plaines kmart store. Near to company headquarters and should be a shining gem. But all u see when u go there is the same old tired kmart logo and the same old flooring from when it was built with a few upgrades ro say wow. Not.
Leaving just the SRG lease stores open would never fly. Any court would call that collusion
The quarter ends Jan 31, 2018. I believe there is a large chance Sears will have filed BK and there will be court fights over to reorganize closing 700 stores or liquidate, closing them all. I think all leases but for those in the SRG REIT would be closed if Sears attempts to reorganize
It should be a good year, we got the remodel 6 months ago and we’re kicking it.
Corporate even gave us a pizza party!
If you are still working at Sears or Kmart today, something is wrong with you, not Eddie.
Wonder how far out the longest leases are?
I see the same type of post but worded differently keep doing the rounds. Irrespective of predictions for 2017/18/19/20 and so on if you feel you need a paycheck to live on you will do what is needful. If you have spent decades working you should have some of it invested/saved. There maybe a very rare case who is really struggling due to unforseen circumstances. You always need to have your finances in place unless you are a trust fund baby. This is all I will say for those wanting a peek into the future.
Its over treat every paycheck you get as a bonus. Get paid and the goal is to get one more. Ride it like Seabiscuit and when it stops shoot the horse in the head and find something new.
My crystal glass crashed.
Maybe Eddie should come into a kmart and buy his employees a beer. They deserve it. He's probably only set foot in a kmart or sears maybe 12 times. He only goes to corporate 2 times a year. A good ceo walks his stores. Asks questions of his customers. Talks to employees about their concerns. Is engaged in the process. Talks to store management about what is working and doesn't work. You can't understand what is going on in the stores until u engage and it's really hard to engage when u sit in ur fancy house and scream at a bunch if corporate yes men about all that ails your company over a video feed. But I guess I'm not a billionare.
Eddie will kill kmart by the end of 2018. He already sold off the good stores. So why keep the dilapidated ones open when there leases are due. He shut the nice kmart down my town d/t the real nice loca6ion it had and left the dumpy from 1970s store open. Cheaper to shut them down. Sears will hang on a bit while longer.
And people still believe the government/Media when they say the economy is doing great. LOL!
And spare me the Amazon scapegoat. Online sales make up 9% of total retail sales, and Amazon is only a fraction of that 9%.
This ain't happening due to single digits %'s.
Oh let me add one more thing to my last post...don't forget the drunks that come in trying to buy a single with 200 sticky nasty pennies. This is what Kmart has been reduced too. We are nothing more then a joke. I'm not saying other stores don't sell money orders and have people pay with pennies, but unfortunately that is out core customer, no one is buying anything else, they are just stealing it.
At my Kmart sales are so bad it's not even funny! I can't remember the last day we were up in sales from last year (it's been months at least). Even big sales, holiday weekends, first of the month, etc aren't driving sales like the use to! The only people who are coming in are:
-
Buying Money Orders
-
Doing a Western Union
-
Cashing a check
-
Buying beer
So I guess I should rephrase, the service desk is busy proving services which we make little to no money on (but which theoretically drive business to the rest of the store), but the rest of the store is dead and sales are down double digits.
Pain.
@PRTXfHr-twj Ahahah, that's a cute joke.
Record numbers, same store sales up 15-20%
My prediction is that Kmart is going to be pretty well gone by mid 2018 if not a lot sooner since (as I have said many times) Sears will sacrifice them to keep Sears afloat for maybe another year or two. Sears will probably be all gone by the end of 2018 or the beginning of 2019.
