Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Why are we hiring new people?

Can anybody explain to me why is Citrix hiring people at the same time it is doing major layoffs? How does this even make sense? And please don't say it's for different jobs, we lost a great worker who could have easily switched to this position, and who'd even have experience within the company in addition to his knowledge. Yet he is out. Wtf Citrix?

These types of restructuring are often taken to prune the organization a little bit. It is much easier on the manager to put an employee on a RIF list than to go through the lengthy process of a performance plan. Some good people get swept up in these restructurings, but don't be surprised if Citrix keeps adding heads despite the layoffs.

Companies like Citrix keep adding people, sometimes in very similar roles, sometimes in different locations, etc.

Citrix is notoriously bad at managing their expenses. Keep in mind that Citrix did not miss bookings or revenue targets, but that expenses went out of control and this is then corrected by pulling the emergency break by doing a significant RIF.

This had nothing to do with talent. This had to do with bottom line. That's it. You'll see the repercussions of cheaper people in about 3 months. Citrix has been going down since the first reorganization. They let higher people stay for a little while to keep customers happy. Elliot management will bounce around q1 or q2 2018 while the stock is high, and all customers with a contract will cancel when it ends around q3 or q4. Watch the stock tank. Sell now and start transferrring your stock to MS or VMWare.

Someone put them in the list. All departments had to rank employees. I am sure direct managers and directors were ask for a list of people to layoff or to rank employees at the very least. Some got rid of troublemakers, others of lower performers, but there were a lot of talented people too. They may have been in the wrong place, had a bad relationship with the manager or the manager preferred someone else. At the end of the day, someone put his/her name in the list.

Money money money. Did I mention money?

Also a few people came back after getting laid off and have taken on different positions. People are not getting laid off because they’re bad employees and not hard workers. They got laid off cause the company felt like they didn’t need these positions anymore, not the person.

Citrix is continuously doing layoff's. That might save them few bucks but they kept on loosing respect and the TALENT. from last 6 months I have never seen some one praising Techsupport of Netscaler Support outside Citrix. They say no one has any Experience in front line and they just bluff with you all the time. From a leader to the company who exists on bluffing the customers, Its very disheartening to see the downfall of such a great company. Keep on doing layoffs of your experienced ones , the talented ones and you will receive the same in return. when the entry level college grads gets some experience they will kick the company the same way as they kick out experienced ones because they know what will happen if you work hard and become experienced one in this Company. They will kick you out sooner or later.

Yes, as stated below, it is about money. They let go key engineers in key projects and it says everything.

It's about money. The longer tenured employees tend to make higher wages and cost more to insure/health benefits, etc., so the company comes up with some gobbledygook story about "strategic restructuring" or "market changes" in order lay people off. Meanwhile, they recruit and hire entry level college grads who are happy just to get a job. Happens all the time.
