Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

And then there were none

I saw most of my team leave in June. I was actually told my team would be spared, that our work was too important and our skills were vital to the security of the network. On judgement day, that proved to be a lie. I was furious at having been lied to by people I thought I could trust. I was told the decisions were made at the C level, it was nothing personal. That too was a lie. This was orchestrated to eliminate the most tenured and highest paid employees. All my most experienced and skilled people were fired. I also saw the most vocal and uncompromising removed as well. This was a purge of anyone * disfavored. and the hrbp told me I was expected to get in line and support the plan. I have no credibility anymore. The few remaining either know I was lied to or think I am in league with ***. I used to have a close team. Now it's a struggle to get anything done. I stopped calling people to find out why they aren't at work. I know "working from home" means at another job interview or they just don't care anymore. I've had more leave on their own since June. No backfill allowed and everything is being outsourced, so soon it will be down to just me. And then there'll be none.

Nike seems to be like any other bloated, lethargic corporation. They've lost the edge which got them here. It remains to be seen if they can course correct. I personally don't think MP can pull if off. He's an artist and makes a fine 'man behind the curtain'; however, I've seen nothing that he's said or done that inspired me. Isn't that part of the role of a leader?

I worked there 5 years and never heard MP's voice - in person or otherwise. I suppose I should have been on the quarterly results call.

Let's see if MP and his team can move the ship forward given the headwinds they're now facing. I suspect they only sail in calm waters.

Actually many S bands and E bands were let go. Some VP types were demoted to S bands and some S bands demoted to E bands. Many E bands terminated. It was mostly a C level decision. However, for those E band and below it was a Senior Leadership Team decision at division level. My take.

My team sits off campus. No one is ever in office in freestyle environment. Most people say they work from home. Productivity way down. Morale is also bad.

HRBP's don't help employees. They are their to CYA business units. First mistake is trusting them. Second mistake is believing your leader when she/he tells you this was a C level decision. It wasn't. S bands and E bands had to identify employees to go. Nike is ruined.
