I'm one of the few survivors. My team has been almost wiped out.
M8 will be announced september 19th by Ed "Autistic" Screven.
M9 is officially cancelled, so no need to keep dev team, only sustaining.
My manager advised of a possible new round of layoffs end of this fiscal, maybe earlier depending on the adoption of M8.
M8 is not dead, remaining employees have been invited to be in the audience for the launch announcement webcast:

SPARC people are out , what left of them are numbered.
so the next layoffs will be after securing M8. and you wont hear anything about it because if those effected don't come here and say anything no one will find out.
I am sure those who survived are interviewing now. by the time they want to lay them off nobody will be there to be RIFd anyways.
Oracle will be super stupid if it thinks that those people who saw all their peers / managers / coworkers for 10+ years thrown out in that nasty way will actually trust Oracle and stay till the end
M8 announcement? Will there be an official public announcement that M8 is dead?
Based on the tape 4000 and 9000 or 8000 team's experience. You will be let go after you release you product on time.
There was a very weak rumor of a smaller follow-up RIF in mid September but it was probably just speculation that Oracle would roll the effects of the Engineering layoff through all the other groups.
Sooner than you' do like, everybody who's left should be looking for jobs outside of oracle
in terms of percentage, how much impact on sparc team ?
What's left of it?
After M8 announcement, some teams will be packing up.
