The information posted on this forum for the past few days is valuable in terms of emotion and content which can provide insights on what went wrong from the people who did real work there. Could Nike harness this information with all the big data capabilities that are available and glean some real information that could be used to address real issues? Any pep talk now sounds so false when the remaining folks know they could be the next lambs to the slaughter. Set up more 1:1's so people know it's sincere and not empty clueless talk about the future. It's going to be a hard grind to come out of this, but be sincere about it. Let everyone catch their breath before you resume all the jazzy presentations and videos. This is a time of respect for the people let go.

Yep. The elimination of FTE's and reliance on ETW's is a clear sign of the folks at the top circling the wagons and keeping out anyone who threatens their little kingdoms. If you get hired on as an ETW you are really no different than someone with ABM on the back of their uniform in the eyes of the gatekeepers. You're a worker with no chance of having any skin in the game, while your manager basically takes the whole summer off, and shows up whenever he/she feels like it the rest of the time. Just figure out what you want to get out of Nike, then move on. Don't bother dreaming your hard work will lead to anything. The adage is true, if you look around the conference room and you can't spot the s---er, then you're the s---er.
I am sorry , Nike HR is a JOKE. If you report on a bad manager, their response is to set up a Manager 90 where employees are required to speak of their issue in FRONT of the manager who is figuring out how best to RETALIATE. I am collecting a lot of good evidence on this with my current manager who is vindictive as f--- and a 15+ year Nike employee with very little managerial skills.
Nike HR does not realize what a cluster f--- of a class action lawsuit can emerge from retaliation.
"Nike is ~ 80% Institutionally owned."
Yep, true of most companies now. That's what these peon employees have no clue about. While they've been fast asleep thinking themselves great employees, the world has changed radically since 2008.
Now they put up silly posts telling top execs about what's wrong with the company, having no clue the execs aren't nearly as ignorant as they are. They just know more, and they know the future doesn't care about peons like this, because they will all be eliminated thru bots, programs, or cheap labour from India.
Meanwhile the average "Murican" worker thinks it's still 1975 and he has some power of the corporations.
Laughable.
Nike is ~ 80% Institutionally owned. Don't believe it? It's easy to confirm, via many personal finance websites. The institutional owners don't give a toss about employee relations, corporate culture, or any of these 'soft' attributes. These institutions want financial results, and the stock price performance that comes from such results. The NKE execs have one master--the owners. Current employees would do well to reflect on this information and what it portends for their future employment.
As soon as algorithms can do the job of many ETWs or FTWs (and it's coming sooner than we all think), Nike will go there--believe it. Start saving $ like there's no tomorrow. Don't say you weren't warned....
You assume the execs don't know all this?
you're wrong.
they know this and far more.
they understand the big picture, which you and these people are clueless about.
watch whst happens over the next 6-12 months.
you think its bad now?
hasn't even begun.
