Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Moving on

I wanted to give my best wishes to folks who got laid off.

Remember, its not the end of the world and specially if you are in the Silicon Valley region, jobs are a plenty...

I don't think that the folks who are not impacted by the RIF are feeling any better - its like wading through a minefield with bombs going off all over the place. This is no longer Oracle I used to know. A crushing amount of work and the only reward is... you get to keep your job...

@rvc it's not just the Bay Area. It's corporate America. All corporations are puppets of Wall Street now. There are no stakeholders but the stockholders.

@2rrd Sales and Pre-Sales was hit pretty hard at the end of FY17. Though I do expect further cuts now that the end is being signaled. Plus, who would stay knowing there is no future in HW?

sales and presales will be hit end of H1FY18.

how they will be hit depends on specific geo, but on average same level of massacre.

I am ex Sun and rejoined Oracle. Did the Sales organization get hit or is that to come since the fiscal quarter is closed

There are better companies than Sun in the bay area (I'm ex-Sun). Problem is finding them, since words are cheap and so is PR. Everywhere you look (incl. glass door) is full of fake reviews. In your network, find the people who have worked at several different companies, and ask them. Perspective. Also, where do the superstars end up who have the freedom of choice? Adrian is at Amazon.

@P3EqjEZ-rvc - Ultimately, the best gig is to work for yourself ... if you can make the numbers work ... and ... still have a life.

Buddy, I am an ex-Sun employee who got the RIF in 2006. I can tell you there is NO good company to work for in the bayarea. Just go to any companys board and the complaints are the same - no jb security, age discrimination, sham interviews, unfair promotions, buddy systems in management to survive...the list is on and on....
