Don't blame retail. Sneaker culture has never been hotter. And atheleisure wear and Street wear have been ruling fashion for a few years so anime should be killing it. adidas and reebok are both growing. No layoffs. Nike doesn't innovate or lead anymore. It's a bunch of boring dudes talking to themselves. There's no respect for actual ideas unless you are part of a collaboration. "Kids" today are paying crazy prices for streetwear--Off-White anyone? $250 for a t-shirt. Yeezy's line, same. It's not necessarily the price point that's the problem. It's what Nike is selling at what price point. No one except maybe the rich or elite athletes are buying $180 running tights. There has to be a range. And let's face it, Nike sat back and missed the athlesure wear trend completely. Guess, it is just like sport-you can't win if you only play offense.
Or what about those who take 75 minutes to go to Bo at lunch then come back and actually go to lunch. But they play the game with the right people so most will be safe.
Gotta say good riddance. Not the same company it was and nobody is rewarded on merit anymore. Add that to all the people from the outside, just become a poor culture. Used to be Nike was cool because of the good people working there now it seems that people are cool because they work there.
Good luck to all but company will never see another dollar of our families.
To the person that claimed if you can stand in line for 45-60 minutes for TriMet pass and not be missed, you must not perform an essential business function. That is a really unfair statement.
Something is in the works. I noticed some of the conference rooms had paper placed over the windows and were freshly stocked with Kleenex. When employees can spend 45-60 minutes in line at the cafe waiting for a trimet sticker and not be missed it's hard to argue that they perform an important business function. I do wonder who will occupy all the new buildings that are under construction.
This is not a problem for all retail.. our competitors are enjoying a lot of growth
what department and how many approximate casualty today?
@P0y5wgl-lep If you work at Nike - especially on main campus, you're in for a rude awakening.
Lies
Going on almost everywhere, in case some think this is just about Nike.
Not at all. Retail is in a death spiral. Go to "Latest Posts" where you will have your eyes opened to the reality of the economy right now.
