As an hcmss , I need to say, sometimes, there is little that can be done to help someone with different waitlist, income requirements, Medicare regulations, etc. I take offense that you say we're spoiled, walk a mile in my shoes, and see how we deal with the heartache and break of not being able to make what the member wants happen. Perhaps you need to relook at your definition of what help really means. Maybe the help that was able to be given is to be realistic to the task you wrote that isn't, and you gave the member false hope...like the PHC who told the member the hcmss could get them a car....realistically, the issue was transportation, and resources were provided....what you wanted? What the member wanted? No, but reality in a horrible world with limited free services....we can't control the wait list at the area agency on aging, we can't do teir exceptions if you're in the deductible state, we can't create a PAP if there is none. We bust our butts to think out of the box to help. And, in that real world, do you get Humana is a business? Have you ever heard of any company doing layoffs to give such notice, or services? It is not Humanas role to get you a job, or support you while you look for one.....3-6 months notice? Career center? Perhaps this is why you feel no one helped your members- you are a bit unrealistic. Perhaps this is your first work experience, Humana, while frustrating, is way more generous than most companies with their two month notice and severance, most places just do 2 weeks and your pto....at some point, you need to help yourself- there are no free cars, and your vision for Humana just sums up why you think hcmss are spoiled....pot, meet kettle....PHC poster, it seems you are the spoiled one. Welcome to the real world
