Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Life after oracle

Laid off last quarter unexpectedly. Process was cool. Notified June 1 worked through June 30. Severance package came in for 4 years of service. 14k before takes 9k after.

Just started with MongoDB today. Making more now than I was last year at oracle. Base matches oracle at 10 hrs a week overtime. Interviewed with pivotal, AWS, and pentaho. All of them are hiring.

It was a bit nerve racking but it all worked out great. Feels nice to be wanted. Over 40 with no plans on leaving Oracle as a sales consultant, but totally happy with the change.

Don't sweat it. Market is good. Go have fun, update the resume and linked in. Start interviewing and relax at Oracle

Total comp in Field Sales for SaaS is way more than that IF you can hit your number. But the quotas are unattainable and they only pay a portion of the first year's deal. Its rigged against you at Oracle.

Lots of good technology sales jobs out there. Somehow those jobs are not outsourced like the support jobs.

Total comp at Oracle for a field sales consultant is about 150k.

Industry average base is 160k. OTE is 210k. If you work at Oracle you are way underpaid.

Variable is 10k Guaranteed (manager discretion), 40k OTE ... again, no reason to sweat it out at Oracle

Congrats! Not only on getting a job, but on the raise in base pay (and for no longer having to deal with all of the systems to account for timecards, OT requests, time utilization, etc.).

Out of curiosity, how does the variable part of your on-target-earnings compensation compare? I'm not looking for hard numbers, but something along the lines of "about the same, but with a fighting chance to make it" or "x% higher than what I had at Oracle".

From what I've heard from others, competitors are very happily hiring away talent right now and are offering packages that easily top what Oracle has.

Again, congratulations!
