If COP's Exploration Geo's are great, where are the discoveries in GOM, Malaysia, Angola, Kazakhstan, Poland that were drilled. Must have spent a couple of billion dollars looking for something! Know we did not find anything that added real reserves. But I could be wrong but not likely!

irkr- I agree with your assessment. There are some truly brilliant world class Geos in exploration (and technology)- such a same to see such wasted talent doing so much meaningless "make-work" under such bad management!
company is struggling and will always be, as long as the same pathetic directors and useless managers/vps are floating around. All they do, hangout and wonder around doing nothing.
Unfortunately, because of the top leadership policy, the technical guy will always be the one to push over.
May be the oil price will recover and I hope we all remember this and that there is always other places to work.

There are some truly world-class explorationists in the company. Unfortunately, almost all of the supervisors/leaders are corrupt opportunists who only care about what makes them look good rather than truly creating value for the company. They spend man-years on Powerpoints to sell their future dryholes and then later explain why they were dry.
The best thing to do would be to fire worldwide (not sever) the top 50 "leaders" in Exploration and let the honest technical people take over. Start at the top.

Exploration group already hit very hard during previous 3 rounds. why again?

Didn't even know we had an exploration group, never have heard of any successes.
Don't worry about your job if you are on that team, you are probably a hi-pot and will bump someone else out of a job.
