Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Cash Flow Problem

"If the company were to grow its cash flow from operations from 2Q17 by 10% in each of the subsequent quarters, then it might still face a cash flow deficit of $207 million in 3Q17 and $85 million in 4Q17, as per my rough estimates. In this case, for the full fiscal year, Anadarko Petroleum may face a cash flow deficit of $340 million, or more than $450 million if we also include the dividend payment. If cash flow from operations remains constant in the subsequent quarters (3Q17 & 4Q17), then we might see a deficit of around $718 million. If cash flows drop by 10%, then the shortfall might clock in at around $960 million. This could put a strain on the company's finances.

Therefore, if oil prices stay weak, then Anadarko Petroleum may have to do more than just cutting the capex by $300 million."

Yep, I ran into a couple of APC people this morning as well in Denver. So glad I am away from there and out of that industry. It's good to be re-established and moving forward, although the past year has been a bit wacky. Lots of opportunities out there!

Many young people with great technical experience and solid work ethics were let go in March 2016. Furthermore, there are many young (and older) people who are leaving APC to pursue other opportunities. On another note, I saw two ex-coworkers this morning while passing through Denver. It was great to see them, but I realized it's good to be gone from APC. I had the chance to work with really great people and made good friends, yet they have seem to disappeared.

"Private jets for the convenience of your betters are none of your business.

What, are you some kind of Democrat?"

Obviously you are ignorant and incapable of applying correct grammar when writing.

On a the new hires. It makes me think the layoffs were more about old timers and money. They could have cross-trained people to do other things. Unless it is a very specific job people can be cross-trained. This is especially true in the world of IT for example. If they see they need a job then look harder at the people to cross-train and move to other jobs. Given the opportunity workers might just surprise you.

Cash flow problems? Hmmm...Does APC still pay for downtown Denver parking, health club memberships, $20+/hour wages for interns, and jets to fly the CEO back and forth to SoCal?

From the looks of Anadarko's spending habits, one would think they are doing just fine.
