Fake news.
Google 'McAfee employee number' and you get ~ 6768 people.
If they didn't spin off until April 4, then they were included in the 106K number. So, Intel actually probably added people this past quarter.
Maybe those folks left voluntarily after their RSUs vested.

Am guessing those are McAfee employees? They officially spun out on April 4, first week into Q2.
