@Om2fOwZ-1oin Who was the CEO at the time? What was his credentials prior to being CEO, what is that man's legacy? The current CEO won't have one accolade nor ever grace the cover of Time unless as cover story of an idiot who ruined a company.

@xyh Intel did successfully reinvent itself when its memory business was collapsing decades ago. However, the one big invention that enabled this reinvention at the time was the microprocessor.

This time there is no big invention to enable Intel to reinvent itself. R.I.P.

To the OP ... ummm, there are problems within Intel which didn't exist in the past. I remember the mandatory reading of Andy's Only the Paranoid Survive. I remember making and meeting commitments. I remember Managing at Intel.

In all of these things, the focus was on execution. Crisp, defined, goal-oriented execution.

What we have now are high level management teams which tolerate fuzzy, undefined goals and don't hold anyone's feet to the fire for execution problems. If anything, those with "big ideas" that don't execute are promoted and rewarded over those who actually make and meet commitments.

The entire Intel philosophy has been turned on its head. Instead of Intel Rocks - its Intel is now dumb as a bag of Rocks.

Intel was great, yes, I did work there for 5 +yrs and for 4 of them, loved every minute. But as for any good thing, it started to get stupid. Key people began to leave, bad decisions made and things became 'diverse' - for the sake of diversity, rather than for 'people' who are the best. Horrible. Why does it always get like that? It was perfect. I see the venom in these posts but trust me, you are better off somewhere else. The last couple of months at big blue it was like there were no adults in the room - and that's no way to run a company. The economy is better, and a lot more jobs are opening up who cares about a past company.

Intel is too big to fail (but I suppose they said that about the Roman Empire as well).

Intel, senior management all mostly bred and nurtured thru 25 years of monopolistic growth that enabled obscene profits and arrogance of treating customers, partners with the kind of love that is the case study of how not to!

Missed every opportunity to catch the next big wave because of the x86 arrogance. Truely the best example innovator's dilemma. No question they spend hundreds of billion and missed on all of them!

Across the board at the top of every major org at Intel is a close minded leader of old who can't sense or accept the new time and believes in the rosy forecasts and creates more as that is all their respective boss wants to hear. No real confrontation and challenge anymore!

In BKs reigns you have a track record of empty next big things all discarded for late and overpriced attempt at the next big thing. In each cas hey are late, overpaid and taking the wrong approach. BK ain't exactly one who's resume is littered with amazing brilliance, LOL

There are NO examples of a technology company successive reinventing itself. Intel being led by old and closed minded executives and shackled with x86 myopia is destined at best to decline like IBM has over two decades, at worst implode like Nokia and Blackberry. Or get carved up like Motorolla and AMD was. If 10nm slips as every indication suggest to 2019 then second half of 2017 and 2018 will be a great ACT to watch.

The question for the executives and common folk you want to pray and believe the promises for forecasts that have been wrong for the last 10 years!

You are so right. In fact I am committing today to doing something useful - short selling INTC and using the proceeds to siphon technology and poach skilled talent to technology companies that actually know how to innovate and that treat their people like valued human beings.

Intel HRs should go back to your fundamentals - don't post a list like VSP/ISP from act that includes people's age on sharepoint without setting any access restriction.

HR confirmed Intel rocks. When you're beautiful, people will be jealous and hate you. That's why there are so many haters. Microsoft is laying people off as we speak. Why not complain about that? The average tenure at Amazon is less than 2 years, so people either get forced out or they get fed up and leave on their own. Layoffs happens at every company. They just do it differently and the way Intel's leaders chose to do it recently rubbed many people the wrong way. Don't correlate that to Intel failing in everything it does. At the end of the day, its profit speaks for itself. People still buy Intel stuff because they need it.

Near monopoly of consumer PCs and servers is what has been keeping Intel afloat and allowed spending money on everything stupid. Now that there's starting to be some competition, Intel doesn't have that luxury anymore.

Evil Brian Krzanich has no moral compass and cannot tell good from bad

Terrible executive leadership

Stale stock-price with no significant gains for a long time

Intel is unethical and untrustworthy

Antiquated business practices in both commercial and Fab operations

I could add many dozens of line items to the list.... Intel surely does not rock.

Just project prunning, just all those hyped projects that the dear himself leader started one-two years ago. Just a lot of careers drown in the toilet, just some more billions burned. Just some more proof of management incompetence.

So you, OP, go and f.. yourself until you'll get pruned too, and come back here on layoffs.com with your "just" after you've just lost your job. OK?
