No product confidence

One of the biggest issues with the independents is product confidence. You used to be able to promote lines like WIX filters knowing that the manufacturer had the customers back in the event of suspected product failure. The field representation for WIX always handled customer issues promptly and followed up. How many independents have left after having to eat an engine due to a failed off shore filter from AAP? Is there any manufacturer field reps left?

Well put, @OjmcojL-hly. This is an issue that needs addressing, although since it's not a quick fix, I am not holding my breath that anything will be done about it.

Yep, super hard to find good field folks - AAP does not get this

Nothing will be improved with AAP field representation. It's viewed as an expense that a retailer can do without. The in-house representation will continue to decline due to increased territory geography, loss of company supplied vehicles, and a very low vehicle reimbursement. You cannot operate a vehicle for business on $300/mo + fuel as many are about to discover.

Good field representation is hard to come by and commercial customers expect it. What do you think AAP's commercial competitors are doing? They are ramping up the visibility of field reps and taking it to the bank.
