Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Had an interview today

I haven't worked for Sears for months, but recently had an interview with a company that used to be a vendor. You would not believe the comments everyone had, even more entertaining was my interview with a financial director. He told me that they had to cut Sears off because they couldn't risk Sears not being able to pay... he even stated that Sears threatened legal action but don't belive they ever followed thru with it.

Either way, everyone had heard horror stories of Sears and mentioned that they always see them in a bad light in the news. .. maybe its Sears way of getting free publicity ;)

@1hgt. Not the company but the person. It is all about the people....not the companies. You dont want to bad mouth as you may work with some of the same people in the future.

@1xum Good point about not badmouthing former employers. However, I doubt he will need to go back to Sears for employment, as they will probably not exist by then.

Not a very professional organization to talk about former customers, even if it is SHC. Also, never, ever, bad mouth a former employer. Your perspective employer may one day be your former employer and they don't want you talking about them. Be professional.

Yes definitely no need to worry...I just think those kind of comments only serve to put you in an awkward position so why put someone in that position. It is just uncomfortable. Whenever anyone says anything to me that is negative about Sears, I just shrug it off and change the topic. If they are persistent, I always say listen that isnt who I am to talk nasty about where I work.

Maybe it was, I guess we will see if I get the job. I'm not too worried, if they refuse to hire me based on my comments about a company who they cut off and then got threats for legal action, I wouldn't want to work for that company anyways.

When they ask the question already knowing its not a good place to work, they should expect a certain type of answer, I'd rather be at a place I don't need to BS things, like most of the "happy" people on pebble.

They were testing what you would say. It's all a test of character and what you say about your past job.
