A Sears store in Dover Delaware has old dirty looking carpet and tile. When you tried to buy something, the products were either not in stock or couldn't be ordered. (Esp. Big items) A new product didn't have extra accessories in the store; couldn't find an item on the shelf that Sears used to carry, reports about other stores closing, Craftsman being sold, etc. Where is the money coming from to fix Sears stores? How will Eddie restore the confidence that Sears is lacking?

I work at the one in Wilmington, DE. Push come to shove, I'd rather dirty carpets than a broken AC. Ours broke last summer and for some days it was a stagnant 98 degrees on the second floor - and that's what the temporary floor units were saying it was while those were running. I'm grateful that it was patched up and we got a new chilller a while later. Though part of it already broke down recently... I hope it remains fine for the summer. Give me grimy floors if it means I at least don't die of heatstroke.
Macy and JCP are dumps too. That's why no one shops there either.
The Guam Kmart is literally one of the only profitable stores in the company. They are open 24/hrs a day and are busy around the clock. SHC better hope Walmart or target don't come to the island or it's over!
@yqu, Guam is a beautiful store and the last time I looked at ebitda, it was several million positive
Is it too much to ask that Sears stores have clean floors and functional AC?
If you think that Lampert actually has a plan to make any of the stores viable, you just might think a Nigerian Prince has a million dollars for you
In Sears' history, many stores were left without renovations for 30 and 40 years. The 1980s and 1990s renovations were intended to last for several decades.
Today, there are hundreds of Macy's and JCPenney stores that have not seen renovations other than fresh paint and signage since the 1990s.
So is every Sears supposed to look like a Nordstrom constructed five years ago?
If (and this is a big IF) any money is coming to fix or renovate stores, it'll come from what's made from closing stores. This will probably never happen though.
if he has identified the right stores to save he need to improve those now, not later
"....the correct amount of stores...." OMG
If you're buying that, perhaps I could sell you the Brooklyn Bridge. 10% off list price, today only.
The Guam kmart looks great.
Not true. I believe he is trying to get to the correct amount of stores and then will put money into the stores that he wants to keep open.
No money coming. He isn't spending a dime on refurbishing old stores. It's all going to end up in his pocket.
