Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Leaving VZW after almost 20 years was the best decision I've made.

Don't make the same mistakes that I did by staying at VZW to long. Most of my time was split between retail management and B2B and I was considered a top performer (multiple winners circles) by all accounts. I learned a lot from Verizon and thankful for the opportunities that I was afforded. Over the last few years, the culture has changed, and not for the better. In my opinion, recent layoffs and decreases in pay coupled with increasing quotas has produced a very toxic environment. Most stores and B2B teams I know of have a revolving door of employee turnover and FMLA stress and anxiety related claims. As the company continues to bring in less revenue quarter after quarter, and debt continues to hit new highs on a regular basis, the future doesn't look well. Do yourself a favor and at least interview at other companies. The grass is not always greener on the other side, however I've found that MANY companies now offer pay and benefits comparable to VZW except these companies are growing and not dying. Plus you will in an environment in which you are valued and not treated as disposable. A Verizon paycheck is not worth your health. Don't endure the toxic VZW culture any longer than you have to and good luck finding your new careers. Trust me, your friends and family will notice how much happier you are post VZW.

Couldn't agree more. After 10 year of Verizon brainwashing me into thinking Verizon is all I have and will be crap without them, I finally left the company and could not be happier. Best decision I have made in my life. I thank Verizon for all the have done for me but the direction they are heading is pure crap

Great post thanks for sharing. Good luck on your new adventure.

It is hard for me to understand how a company that used to be so great to work for has changed so much, in such a short amount of time, for the worst.

I couldn't agree more. VZW used to be a great place to work and now it just eats your soul. I left after 13 years and the difference in my life is astonishing. Don't get stuck thinking that its the only thing you can do. Update your resume and think outside of VZW, you will be amazed on what other companies offer. And to be treated as a human where my opinion matters is a breathe of fresh air. Don't get stuck in the rut where you think VZW is the only thing you are capable of. Escape on your own merit and start enjoying life outside of Verizon.
