Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike Canada CHQ Layoffs (August 2017)

There was approximately 25 in Canada yesterday out of maybe 75-85 people in CHQ.

Almost all functional areas. Some areas wiped almost completely. A lot of people with 15-25 years

Pretty sad given how well Canada performs and how short staffed they were to begin with.

An example is they had a guy from Arrow on there computers developing software because none of their employees, knew anything at his level. Other talented agency people come in and after a year, they shove them out the door.

The retraining of new agency staff on a continual basis, defies any business sense in the 21st century, as most if not all companies strive to retain experienced staff.

They have some really good people there, but some just need to go to make way for better talent.

Just the truth.

Nike Canada is a shadow of what it once was. A very small crew of full timers, who 99 percent got there jobs through relatives, friends, ect the usual and it shows, big time. The real talent is the virtual army of Arrow agency people who bring huge amounts of experience and tech knowldege.

As there is no future, they just laid off all the contract staff, the retraining over and over, is quite sad.

The warehouse is horrible, and unsafe. No management presence whatsover. Its just sad really.

Nike is cruel. They give you any severance, but the way they handle the situation is nothing less than horrible. Especially for employees who work there for 10 in 20 years, or even more. The HR people are a bunch a heartless puppets.

Yes, so far all from Wellington. No one knows if Brimley will be affected.

The fact that this thread has over 100 views in less than 2 hours tells you a story - people are reading this not because they enjoy layoffs.com but because they are concerned about their future at Nike.

It's that simple.

The cuts will be deep and will happen soon. CHQ just happens to lead the way...
