Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Be careful with your 401k

Whatever you do DON'T cash out your 401k! You will lose 50% due to penalties and taxes! Unless you have a ROTH, the taxes will be very high! That should only be a last resort! You might be able to roll it over to an IRA account. Do that but dont cash it out. You will lose hundreds of thousands in potential earnings over the years you have left till retirement!!!!!!

I think everybody should see this. It was posted by @OTeXdH3-jsi.

You also don't have to do anything with it. You will keep your Schwab account and you can keep the money in their forever or roll it into a personal IRS or your neck employers 401k. If you get laid off, there isn't any need to make a decision due to that. That Schwab account is yours, not Humana's.

Here's a withdrawal calculator so you can see how much you will lose if you take money out. Utilize every other option first! https://www.wellsfargo.com/investing/retirement/tools/401k-early-withdrawal-calculator/
