The June 1 layoffs are about to be repeated, the 90 warn period will be up September 1. Rumor has it the sales layoff will impact the same number of people as the June 1 layoff in sales. Hardware is also going to get hit, but its going to be limited based on state for WARN notification and unemployment insurance costs. It won't be huge, but it will be as significant as possible below the legal limits.
MH was at a a public event and was asked about the layoffs his direct quote was "I can meet my sales target with 10% of the sales force at Oracle." Granted I did not hear the quote directly, but my coworker did and I believe him.
Also the competition has opened the doors wide, I know of several people impacted by the last lay off that have been scooped up by AWS, Google, MongoDB, Pivotal, Pentaho and a host of other start ups. As Oracle lays off experienced technical sales people the competition is working over time to pick them up. You don't have to get laid off, you can start interviewing now. Better pay and bonus is reported by all.

The HP board just made the worst personnel decision since the idiots on the Apple board fired Steve Jobs many years ago…In losing MH, the HP board failed to act in the best interests of HP’s employees, shareholders, customers and partners. The HP board admits that it fully investigated the s-xual harassment claims against MH and found them to be utterly false.”
Not to be out done by HP, LE being competitive, decided to go one further and make a bigger personnel blunder by hiring MH. Now it has come full circle and MH who obviously hates sales people, and attractive women over 40, has decided to drive them all away.
It takes over 4 months, sometime 6 months to hire a seasoned sales professional or pre-sales professional and put them through the bureaucratic nightmare that is the Oracle machine. In one fell swoop, MH got his wish and is able to eliminate sales like never before in 2017. He might be able to actually test his hypothesis. The rest of the world can now watch... can he reach his number with 10% of the sales force?
I hope not. The world is watching, if technology really does sell itself, then sales people are out of a job, everywhere. I'm betting on sales as always being a people skill thing. I say quit Oracle before you get laid off and go to work for a competitor. Make MH eat his words.
