Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

7 Quarters of decline

That's 7! One more and it will amount to 2 years of continual decline.

Switching and routing fell by 9%! Next quarter that figure will hit double digits!

Let's face the facts guys, Cisco is going through a slow and painful death. The only way profits are being maintained is through cutting costs. Regardless of whether they announced LR's on the call, they will have to make some in Q1 if they want to increase EPS for the market.

The management at its highest levels is full of Cisco lifers who joined the company when it was a few hundred million. They are not smart or experienced enough to run one of the biggest companies in the world and they need to go. They have clearly failed to turn the decline around in nearly 2 years and show no evidence they will. All they are good at is manipulating EPS through laying people off.

Expect a big exodus from investor after next quarter results, and a mid Q1 layoff announcement.

"How many quarters of growth and before that decline before this streak?"

Who cares. Stock and business is driven by future potential, not past performance. Cisco has no future potential. It's impossible for them to maintain the business they have today, let alone grow it. Too many opportunities missed by indecision and half hearted efforts.

Hang on did someone say "intuitive network"... oh I retract all my previous comment. Cisco' saved!

Anyone still at Cisco that long is an idiot. It means they were too dumb to sell their stock before the bubble burst.

Yes but IBM was smart and sold off their hardware business and moved to services in a big way, hence the large drops in revenue.

Cisco is committed to its hardware business as it's where all our profit sits. Getting rid of this would only validate a software white box approach and there are competitors out there in this space already, that Cisco wouldn't be able to compete with.

What services is Cisco taken seriously in, other than installing their own switches. No one is going to contract us to plan their application migration to the cloud, as this is clearly not our strength.
