I was laid off first round and my insurance stopped after my last Humana paycheck and severance began. In the layoff packet they send you, mine specifically said if I wanted to keep my benefits I had to call hr4u otherwise I'd have none during severance. My severance was paid out as the following as well: 1 week of work ( because our last day was middle of pay period) plus vacation. Next pay period... 2 weeks of severance, final paycheck 1 week of severance. I was there almost 2 years so we got 3 weeks, depending on how long you've been there, you may only get 2 more paychecks after your let go date

I sincerely hope you will have 2 things to celebrate. The birth of your child and keeping your job. So much stress for you! Sadly, Cobra is about triple our normal premiums!

Thanks all, i know some of us just want to know but some of need the extra time. My wife works part time hours and cant go full time due to pregnancy.... Cobra wnds up being cheaper i think for us since weve met some of our deductible already and have the hsa.... Once baby is born we can join the market... It would be nice if they original promise of no layoffs could have been kept.

Unfortunately, your insurance will end at the end of your severance, which in your case will be at the end of 6 weeks after your last official day with Humana. Depending on when we are notified you might be able to squeak in a childbirth before that. Fingers crossed for you! Cobra is incredibly expensive. You may want to try to get something on the exchanges instead, though I doubt that will be much cheaper.
